Loss of feeling/strength in left leg following hip replacement surgery.

I had hip replacement surgery nov 4, 2015 at mayo clinic jax. now after 5 months if I am up trying to walk after an hour to two my left leg just quits working. I cant move my left foot the pain is a 10 plus. been to er, critical care and back to surgeon. I had to take a short leave from work I will lose my job my income andbenefits may10th if someone doesn't help figure this out! please help I cant lose everything I thought this was going to be great

Obviously you need to check out the operation result.
You need a second opinion.
Have you had an x-ray or MRI to look in there.
There are many patients with success stories.
My brother is back playing hockey, tennis, and pickle ball.
My wife is fine.(bad back)
I have two hip replacements. I have been playing pickle ball, tennis and swimming lots.
My first hip is 24 years old. I need an insert now. Second fine.

Hi @02121949. I see you posted on the Brain & Nervous System group as well. I found some information from Mayo Clinic on post-hip replacement surgery (http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/hip-replacement-surgery/basics/definition/prc-20019151). Have you talked with your surgeon about the results?

I'm tagging @coladyrev and @annh - both members recently wrote about hip replacement surgery. I hope you all are able to connect and discuss experiences, including tips and advice. Stay strong!

Thanks for responding I have had 3 X-rays in the past month 2 at mayo and 1 primary care everything looks good ... Take more tramadol for pain I can bear pain except when me leg is not letting my foot move taking tramadol is not fixing the issue and none of the doctors have suggested anything else surgeon told my work I had no restrictions and could lift up to fifty pounds I am 67 couldn't lift that much before lol<br />

My surgeon at mayo spent 5 minutes and told me take more tramadol and perhaps I should get a different job and everything was good I have already lost half my pay and may 10th I lose everything very disappointed that no one from mayo cares and I have even been to their emergency room because the pain was so bad<br />

I was having numbness and pain in my hands and feet, especially at night, when I was on Tramodol following surgery. I weaned myself off of it (just used Motrin which I have since reduced to only very occasionally due to current warnings). The pain and numbness soon went away. Also, especially if the pain is in the same leg as the surgery, make sure they check for blood clots.

I was having numbness and pain in my hands and feet, especially at night, when I was on Tramodol following surgery.
