Can Proton Beam Therapy be used when prostate cancer has spread?
Are there any cases where proton beam therapy has been used when cancer has spread outside of the prostate?
Thanks,
bill

Wow, we had same gantry and techs. They were great as you mentioned. I have my first follow up appt. with Dr. Mendenhall on October 4th. If you can, let me know what your first PSA is at your 3 month mark. Where is home (no address just city).
UFPTI is the one who wanted a PETSCAN I think called PSMA. No lymph or spread from prostrate I was very lucky.
I can still picture the dressing rooms, and that bathroom right there that I used every time after drinking the water. I have tried to relate the experience there to others especially the waiting area and treatment rooms.
Do you remember seeing all those children rooms on the left when walking out? I was really sad to see that but what a great facility for them.
Keep in touch.
Back home in Charleston, SC after 40 treatments in Jax.
Yes the images of the gantry treatment rooms , the bathroom just outside the gantry (many days it was a rush to get in there after treatment), and the hallway with the rooms where so many beautiful children were being prepped for treatment - all are emblazoned into my memory. Especially seeing some of the children draped over their parents shoulder as they left. I think the children were braver than any of us adults !
