@drummergirl

I had THR on my left hip on Sept 22.
I am still in the recovery process. They have you up on a walker almost immediately after the surgery. The pain meds will keep you moving easily the first several days, but will probably mess up your stomach and intestines. For me, the constipation was not worth it. The soreness set in for me after I went off the tramadol. Still taking Tylenol and Aspirin. I am not able to step without the walker yet and am still pretty sore. Doing my walking, PT, icing, as directed.
One other issue has been that my operated leg is a little longer than the other and it throws off my alignment. My therapist says it may resolve when the swelling goes down. Eventually, I expect to be back to activities and golf, but it is slow going right now.

Same experience for me after THR IN July. The Oxy of one really shut me down with bowels and I only took 2 doses. Also the surgical leg seems a bit longer, but at least I was warned about that. Getting RHR November 1 so hopefully by next year I’ll be able to do fun stuff again. This year has been hard.

Time, time. My recovery has been so incremental that it's frustrating at times, but I've got to keep my eyes on the prize and compare myself to where I was 4 months ago when I was released from the hospital after my right hip revision. Sometimes it even feels like PT is a setback, so I schedule PT appointments 3 weeks apart so I have some time to build strength and get used to new exercise routines.
Swelling has also been an issue, but with compression hose and time there really has been a difference. I'm just about to turn 61 and this has been my third (and final, my surgeon tells me) hip replacement/revision. I'll be happy to keep what I've got, even with limited mobility and some discomfort.
