Recurrence IBC in scar tissue after 5years
Hi, just had surgery to remove cancer in scar tissue recurrence after 5years.
Had doubled mastectomy in 2018, a complete node dissection. Was treated with chemo first then surgery then radiation.
Anyone no what treatment would be now, waiting for results could take 3 weeks.
I know can't have radiation as i was told i have had my limit.

Hi @hannah1971
Sorry this has happened to you. Not sure what your next step will be, but I can share my similar experience. I had a mastectomy in 2013 with no other treatment. In 2020, had recurrent cancer in my chest wall and pectoral muscle, not the scar tissue. I had the tumor removed (left with a positive margin) and then radiation as I did not have that the first time. Then I went on Kisqali and Letrozole and have continued on them for 2.5 years now. So far so good. The waiting game is so hard. Praying for you.
@hannah1971 ah geez, this stinks for you. I have read many times where it can come back in the scar even with the radical mastectomies of the past. We all pray it won’t come back, and for me it felt like, just when I thought I had escaped something put a gate up.
The one good thing is you don’t have to ask yourself if you did everything you could to prevent it. It sounds like you took everything they threw at you. The next step will be determined by biopsy, just like before, they will target the treatment to your cancer.
I know the waiting is crazy hard, but as you know a few short weeks isn’t a long time in the life of cancer, it just feels like it.
Do you have something you really love to help occupy your mind and time a bit, while you wait?
Did you have symptoms? Or felt a lump? I keep having pains on the side that had cancer. I have a bilateral in January of this year.
That is supposed to say I had, not have.
Hi, yes i felt a lump an went to gp who sent me for U/S came back as just scar tissue.
Wasn't happy with that so ask to have appt with my surgical oncologist an she ask to have it biopsy.
Result cancer.
If you are unsure always get it checked out.❤️
Thank goodness that you didn’t just accept the first result. I am seeing my surgeon next week and having an ultrasound prior to her visit. Thanks.
