@mdmarquardt the octreotide really took my appetite away the first year or so. I'm still not hungry, but at first I really didn't feel like eating at all so I'm betting it's the lanreotide taking away your appetite. Praying for good results on your scan. It's so hard with cancer because every new pain we get, of course our first thought is wondering if the cancer is causing it.
My husband was switched from Octreotide to Lanreoride 4 mos. ago & he said he has a decreased appetite since bring on this shot
My husband is 81, and had to give up a trial of both meds as he was losing so much weight after just 3 months it was scary, he’s always been tall and slim so he couldn’t afford to keep losing the weight, he was eating well too, but the shots just seemed to exacerbate his diarrhea instead of helping it.
And his vitamin levels dropped precipitously.
I don’t know which it is either, but because of weight loss I really try to eat as much as the restricted dietary guidelines with lanreotide will allow. I have been adding protein powder to my fat free Greek yogurt and oatmeal. I have been encouraged to drink a protein drink, but have chosen to do so yet due to having abdominal cramps after trying one. My oncologist said everyone was different and I would just have to work through things for myself, but sometimes I hate playing roulette with my intestinal tract.
