Trapped gas - have tried everything!
I have IBS-D and have real problems with pain from trapped gas along with bloating. I have tried IB Gard, Gas-x, ginger, recommended yoga poses and abdominal massage, Hyoscyamine (prescribed by GI) with very little relief. I have been maintaining a low FODMAP diet for months and had a two week course of Xifaxan d/t positive SIBO results two months ago. I had a CT scan at the ER two months ago because I thought I had diverticulitis (but didn’t) and the scan didn’t reveal anything of note. Is there anything else people have tried and that has helped with this issue?

Hi! I struggle with gas, pain, and hardcore bloating. I’ve been trying everything and the kitchen sink for way too long. I feel like there may not be a consistent answer to it. However, I’ve had some success with applying specific essential oils and walking.
Please let me know if you want to know more about which oils, etc.
Sure. I am willing to try anything at this point! I will often use a heating pad as well which offers some relief and I also think that walking or moving around helps a bit but am still searching for ways to feel better.
Can u tell me about the oil. This acid reflux is very bad
For essential oils for any abdominal pain, I use Doterra copaiba and Doterra lavendar with a grapeseed carrier oil. I specify brands because not all essential oils are safe to be applied to your skin. I combined them in a glass roll-on container. Then I use the roll-on all over my abdomen from right under my ribs to right below my hips going from right to left to also utilize abdominal massage. Don’t negate the belly button area as well.
I also will put some on the bottom of my feet. Make sure to immediately put socks on as the oil will make your feet slick. The bottom of your feet has the largest pores in your body as well as lots of pressure points.
The lavender will help relax and calm you physically and emotionally as well as it has anti-inflammatory properties.
I use copaiba for pain-relief.
This may sound like an old remedy but it works have used it for years. 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water will relief your gas an help with bowel movements. Try a little lemon in the water if that helps because, honestly the taste isn't that great. It does work google this remedy an you will see its been around for years. Hope this helps best wishes.
Have you tried eliminating sugar from your diet and other sweet foods? They can cause gas (happens to me).
This may sound awful but might help you Get in your hands and knees and rest your head on you r hands while sticking your bottom up in the air.
Yoga poses are great gas releasers.
Also abdomen massage. Google it for instructions.
If it’s stomach gas, Besides or along with abdominal massage, try couple teaspoons of charcoal (coconut) in 8 oz of water. Then drink slowly another 8 oz of warm/hot water. If s the only thing that’s helped me.
Did the CT scan show distension? Have tried walking? Does it feel worse if you walk?
