Has anybody ever heard of anything like this?

....hope you get some helpful comments and ones that will help you get back to how you felt before. 2016 I was given a Quinolone drug, Norflox, for bladder infection - read the pharmacy sheet with the prescription and said to spouse i dont really want to take these but did, for obvious reaons.... didnt want to rock the boat. Two weeks after got up and walked across bedroom carpet and could feel every fibre in carpet on bare feet, odd, went to make breakfast and fintgers and hands tinling. Lower legs feet lower arms hands... checked for Magnesium and told to see fam. dr. when returned from vaction -when I did he got a big black medical book off shelt and said: says here side effects headache and nausea! OMG. I had 3 pages of info from Pharmacy with the pills warning of this and careful using in those over 65 etc etc.. but I dare not speak up. Anyway, I ended up leaving that Dr. I should have shown him the BLACK BOX WARNING on the pills - never had seen that before and the pharmacist just said to spouse tell her not to drink milk for 2 hours... Then on top of it all, looked up on Internet and discovered the lot number being dispensed at Pharmacy was RECALLED by Health Canada the year before but would not say why. The Pharmacy technicain said he couldnt tell if the pills were from the current lot being dispensed but he told chief Pharmacist and I heard her say we have to recall pills. (guess they didnt get notification recalled year before). Long story short Peripheral neuropathy in thos areas still and sort of began the beginning of the end for me regarding health and who knows what illnesses followed were because of not only this Quinolone drug but the fact I probably took recalled lot of pills! Thankfully,, coping with the P.N. and refused meds for it as have other issues... but as years go on feet are worse and more symptoms..... Yes I do believe one pill can cause problems, proving it is another issues. (Recently Trimethoprim another antibiotic and 2 days after have sort of "visual snow.". Was it the meds??? I don't know what to tell you. I've heard those muscle relaxers can be scary. A friend's husband experienced temporary amnesia and a severe migraine after taking a muscle relaxer, and he'd never had that before.
I read a comment somewhere recently about how if you go to a car dealership, you do some research and ask a lot of questions, and try (at least) to avoid making a deal that isn't in your best interest. But when we go to the doctor, we often take what we are offered with no questions asked. We place a lot of trust in the doctor and in the system. I used to be more trusting of prescription medications.
The opioid epidemic left me feeling a lot more skeptical. Drug companies convinced doctors that their product was safe, and patients trusted their doctors. Many now regret that. My view has changed. Now I tend to think if I have a prescription for it, that doesn't make it safe.
And I'll rock all the boats I need to, to remain my own physician and not hand that power to anyone else, however many degrees they may hold.

Good post! Agree. My body seems to react quickly to meds and adult daughter always suggesting this pill and that, over the counter, and I have enough problems with prescription ones as it is. Quality control seems to be lacking too given the number of recall notifications we get from Health Canada. Well, maybe huge job when making millions of little pills, but when wrong ingredients or so, there is a human being on the other end whose life can be dramatically changed by the error. We seem to be between a rock and a hard place dont we? Appreciate that many meds have cured people/saved lives, but have also had negative effect on many - I am criticized for my fear of side effects but having had some quite bad ones, no wonder! The list of side effects is there for a reason... but how do we know if our body will tolerate, even eye drops! ??

@sturner62 You should see a physiatrist. They are specialists in the spine. I love my guy. When I first started reading your post the first thing I thought was a compressed nerve or slipped disk in your back!!! What was the name of the muscle relaxer? That is scary!! I have a lot of reactions to meds.
@lacy2 I have come home from the pharmacy with meds in a stapled bag that are still in that stapled bag in a drawer because this feeling just comes over me that I "shouldn't take those pills"!!! And I always check out the manufacturer (pharmaceutical company) as they have different fillers and I'm allergic to a lot of fillers. And drug interaction checker. I don't trust big Pharma!

Wow terrible situation so amazing how something like that can happen I have a feeling that the genie is out of a bottle and it’s not gonna go back in .every day I say I can’t believe this happened. Probably happens more often than anyone would think.

@sturner62 Thats scary to me 😳. That's the one I take when the nodes in my neck start to spasm!! I only take very occasionally but still. I bet your reaction was to a filler....they put some freaky stuff in our pills these days. But to have it last for so long is crazy. I bet it jump started an autoimmune issue in your system that attacked it 😵‍💫. Yes Physiatrists specialty is only the spine from neck down. Mine had me bring in all my disks and he reads them before he comes in. I hope you are able to find one and reach out to them for help 😊

I would go see a neurosurgeon and get an MRI - sounds like your discs are bulging or out of place. I had this years ago and it was down the leg and they did micro discectomy - took out 20% of the disc - was up walking the next day no pain! X-ray does not show enough of what they need to see. Always see neurosurgeon for your back due to amount of nerves in spine!
