Silent Reflux or LPR
Has anyone been diagnosed with silent reflux or LPR? This is a condition where there is no heartburn, but acid makes its way to the throat. I have had a sore throat/throat irritation for over two years.
Would like to treat without PPI and do what I can homeopathically.

When you have time, scroll back through this thread. It has many useful tips.Read The Chronic Cough Enigma by Jamie Koufman and se if it makes sense to you. She also has a blog email you can sign up for.
I saw an integrative medicine doctor during my breast cancer journey, but continue to consult with him regarding digestive and osteoporosis issues. He has been most helpful. There are many homeopathic things you can implement as well as lifestyle changes/modifications. (See my prior posts.)
Lastly, try not to fret too much as stress exacerbates LPR.
Best wishes to you, Cindy
My dr is not so sure that lpr is a real thing and if you go on line some sites claim that lpr might be something over diagnosed. If you are on ppis for 2 months and it doesn’t help I would think it’s not acid reflux. Diet should help and sleeping propped up should help but it doesn’t address the underlying cause. That is the big question. Ent drs think it’s sinus and gastro drs think it’s acid reflux. Good luck
Not so sure about any homeopathic remedy but try and drink a lot of ph balanced water ( essentia, figi). Some people say probiotics help .
Have you changed your diet. You know , no chocolate, caffeine, tomatoes, alcohol , citrus fruits etc?
Thankyou for all of your kind advice.
My ENT was the first doctor told me it was LPR, after 3-4 years and seeing over ten doctors. I did take Tagamet, got better, but got Sibo as Tagamet gets rid of gas and acid and creates an environment for SIBO.
I listened to a dr Jamie Koufman on the radio and he believes in lpr but does not believe in ppis. This whole thing is so frustrating and before you know it years go by and still no answer. I hope you find relief
You can many times find alkaline water at Dollar Tree. It does seem to help. Cindy
I have severe Gerd so what do you recommend then!
I was told by ENT using endoscopy that I had LPR; prescribed ppi’s that worsened the condition.
Was then tested for SIBO (simple breath test) and tested positive. I would suggest getting tested for SIBO before doing anything else. Both LPR andSIBO are gut health issues, but the treatment for both varies significantly.
