After a hip replacement has anyone experienced frequency in urination? A culture was done, but no uti. Just curious if anyone has had this experience. My hip was done 3 weeks ago.

Yes, I have. Originally I thought it was BPH (70 yr old male); it didn’t occur to me that the THR and urinary frequency could be related.

Yes, I had a RHR in January 2023 for a couple of months after surgery, i was up more than usual going to the bathroom.
At first I had scimpy urine, then symptoms of a UTI. Tests showed a mild UTI and I took an antibiotic for it. It was like the flood gates opened up and I was up all night. The next morning all the “swelling” in my leg was gone and it was clear that it was fluid retention, not swelling. I am almost 4 weeks after surgery and I am only now returning to more normal urination, but still getting up several times/night.

Yes I had increased frequency and also volume. I ended up putting a commode in the bedroom since I had to get up every 2 hours. And needed help lifting legs in and out of bed so had to wake my poor husband up every time.
