Hemipelvectomy for clear cell sarcoma

Posted by annlopez81 @annlopez81, Jun 3, 2023

I'll be getting an external hemipelvectomy due to clear cell sarcoma in a week. Would appreciate any advice, tips or suggestions especially surrounding postoperative recovery.

Hi @annlopez81, I can imagine that you're nervous about getting the hemipelvectomy in a week. I'm tagging @dancingreendog on this discussion. Her husband also had a hemipelvectomy for sarcoma and she may be able to provide some helpful tips as you prepare for surgery and recovery.

By the way, I moved your discussion into the Cancer support group so you can connect with other members dealing with sarcoma. See this discussion:

I hope you have recovered well over the last few months, in January 2020 I also had surgery for a hemipelvectomy due to osteosarcoma. If you're still looking to connect with others that have had this surgery, go to the Amputee Coalition website and join AC Connect, it's an active forum / support area similar to this site. Once you've joined, you can add your amputation type on your page and network with others who have had the same surgery. There's currently 345 of us on there. There are also groups on Facebook for rare hemi's and hip disarticulations.
