I asked my doctor about this and was told that patients who are undergoing drug treatment for MAC cannot enroll in this trial. That makes sense, since they are testing its effectiveness in bronchiectasis. One trial objective at a time. It is possible that, in the near future, they will enroll MAC patients.

It is hard waiting because we are currently battling all of this. Compiling results after these trials takes time, and sometimes the trials themselves last quite a while.

In the meantime, inhale deeply and breathing out fully during nebulizing, as well as using NAC orally, are helpful.

Thanks, I’m an Alpha-1 SZ and have since been diagnosed with mild bronchiectasis and just found out a month ago positive for MAC . Only treatment I have been receiving is azithromycin every other day for the last 11 months. My first Mac test were screwed, so a year later the next came back positive as suspected from my Shands doctors. Still the same treatment so far as it is taking forever to see another pulmonologist since my Shands doctor is retiring. My breathing and O2 is getting lower and struggling to breathe most
of the time. I can feel a change and it’s hard to get help in the medical world these days. I’ll try almost anything to breathe better.
