I used to be afraid of cardiovascular disease but not really much now. Having a doctor who follows recommended guidelines in screening is reassuring. The carotid arteries can be cleaned out I think. My husband has one that’s a bit iffy now. By the way- he had bypass surgery 11 years ago. A recent cardiac cath showed that the coronary arteries were also like new- even though he had been told that they last about 10 years.
I realize now that the decreasing blood flow through the aortic valve had affected me more than I knew over the past few years. I finally start feeling normal again and that’s way better than I have been feeling for a very long time. It sneaks up on you.
Stay healthy and check with your doctor about regular screening. It’s especially important for us women since we don’t get the same cv care as men. Heart disease symptoms are also different in women.
