Ventricular tachycardia post surgery, anyone else have this happen?

Posted by jwoy @jwoy, Aug 29, 2023

My husband had robotic prostatectomy in June. Great outcome and we're very happy so far regarding that.
Healthy 68 yo guy is most all aspects. In recovery he developed ventricular tachycardia that somewhat stabilized but was told to follow up when we got home. So, this continues and now starting medicine to treat. Wondering if the surgery might have triggered this and if anyone else has had similar experience?

@jwoy, how is your husband doing? What medication will he start and is this a temporary or permanent medication?

Hi Colleen. John is doing well, we are on our way to Rochester for the 3 month check. Hoping for good news! This heart issue was so unexpected, PX started him on low dose metoprolol 2x per day. However his HR dips too low so not always taking it. We will follow up with nuclear medicine stress test once we return from MN. Thanks fir touching base. Naomi

I had similar experience, but BEFORE my prostatectomy. I was on medication for several years and it did not help. Ended getting a cardiac ablation , which cured my issue,

Thank you, that's what they are looking at in future if this med doesn't do the trick.
