lumbar epidural steroid spine injection
Has anyone had a lumbar epidural steroid spine injection?
I am scheduled for this procedure and am worried about having it as I have read some really bad adverse effects.
Did the procedure help your pain?
thank you in advance for your response.

My insurance sent me to pain specialist. Over ten years i had 30 epidurals. None worked. I have read that this should not have happened. I recommend reading u tube,Dr. Schubiner on somatic brain method of pain relief. It has helped me.
What shingles med
did you use? I forgot didn’t know there was one…& it’s (the shot) an option I’m
Considering..
acyclovir or Zovirax
I had two epidurals and had some temporary relief, but leaves my sacrum with continuing discomfort, and I probably won’t do that again. Sort of an inflammatory feeling. For months; until I used diclofenac patches on that area to calm the inflammation.
Good luck-they must work on many people if they do them!
I have never heard of anyone getting relief from those injections, but kudos to you, you're probably one of a very few patients that have. ❤️
I am having a lumbar steroid injection in a week. I am incontinet due to several health issues, and wear diapers to manage. Will the injection excerbate my incontinence? Will I be able to wear my diaper during the procedure?
I tried to send a message a few minutes ago, but don't think it worked. I am scheduled to have an lumbar steroid injection in a few days. I am incontinent due to several health issues, and wear diapers to manage. Will the injection exacerbate my incontinence? Since I'm a little afraid of having an accident durint the procedure, will I be able to wear a diaper for this procedure. Thanks for any advice.
You could call the procedure center. I'm sure they won't have any trouble working around the issue. They'll have a pad underneath you for the procedure and will handle anything that happens. The injection could temporarily (4-6 hours) increase incontinence because it numbs the nerves. I hope the injection resolves your pain.

1 ReactionI had a spinal epidural a year ago in my lumbar. I was going overseas and was traveling for aprox 2 wks. I’ve not had one since. But will say that it really helped relieve my pain. I have severe scoliosis. I was able to enjoy my trip with very little discomfort. Mostly quite tired from walking at days end. I’ll be getting another one in September, which will be exact day I had it last yr ! And traveling again. The Dr I had answered all my questions & has been doing these for 20yrs plus. He eased all my concerns and talked to me through whole process. I mine done at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA.
I’m getting them every 4 months right before my vacations as well. They work great for me too. I hope I can get them every 4 months for life; I am 78.
