Has anyone with microscopic colitis gone through chemotherapy?
I have had micro colitis for several years….also gastritis. Right now the MC is under control with daily Budesonide. I’ve recently had breast cancer surgery, and have to undergo chemotherapy starting this week. I am so anxious about what this will do to my already fragile digestive system. Has anyone experienced this?

Judy, what type of breast cancer do you have? Have you started chemotherapy?
Stage 1 invasive. I had successful surgery in July, and have just had my second chemotherapy treatment.

Sorry about the double whammie- chemotherapy when dealing with gastritis and microscopic colitis.
I had chemo 31 years ago- it was not pleasant.
At the time I had GERD- taking the acid controlling meds.
I had microscopic colitis 15 years ago, treated with methotrexate.
I would not be surprised if your chemo drugs will also treat the colitis.
They are immunosuppressants.
You may still have some form of diarrhea as a reaction to the harsh drugs. I had a severe intestinal reaction where it seemed as if the intestinal lining was peeled off and came out in the toilet. It was an extremely unusual reaction that I don’t think you have to worry about.
If your gastritis gets worse check with your GI.
I would be very interested in hearing from you how you tolerate the chemo. Please post if you have energy. I remember being drained at the end.
