Needing surgery having myopathy, how safe is it ?
After four years of symptoms , many test hospitalizations and suffering an EMG /NCS showed evidence of myopathy, I suffer from severe excruciating generalized pain but exceptionally intolerable on right shoulder , recent MRI w/contrast shows persistent labrum tear in an area where previous labrum tear was arthroscopicaly repaired 3 years a go , feeling weak and not in good health, with abnormalities on blood work , shoulder and arm moves in and out of place , I am very worried about undergoing surgery for it , should I look for a surgeon with expertise with neuromuscular diseases patients or a general shoulder surgeon could perform this procedure?

I can only advise regarding my experience. I had a nerve impingement in my back that caused severe pain when walking or even trying to sleep. I went to two orthopedic surgeons, both tops in their fields. They both wanted to do extensive fusion therapy. Having done that for my neck a few years ago, I didn't want to go that route. Finally, my brother suggested I see his neurosurgeon. To make a long story short, the neurosurgeon was tops in his fields and did a minimally invasive surgery. I'm fine and grateful. My point is, see a well regarded neurosurgeon first. When I had my neck surgery I saw an orthopedic surgeon and while the surgery was "successful," I wish I had seen my neurosurgeon first. With this situation I am going through the difference is that involves the shoulder and previous shoulder surgery, but I have neurological symptoms as well ,I am going to a consult with a specialist in shoulder Ortho surgery to hear a second opinion because previous surgeon determined he does not want to perform a second surgery because I am experiencing severe spasms in that arm / shoulder and he says that would destabilize that area and ruin the repair , he said a special type of fusion needs to be done and he does not do that . I am only 21 years old and this started when I was 17 , it has robbed me of everything plus I am in agony every day having to relay in a vast number of pharmaceutical crushes just to make it through the hours , I have seen a galaxy with constellations of providers and still navigating this nightmare.
