Anyone ever had a large, hard lump in breast after Lumpectomy surgery?

My lump was in my armpit where the SLNB was performed it was a "seroma" I went back to the breast surgeon and had it drained. It's pretty painless and almost instant relief. It did grow back and went back a 2nd time and drained it again. Maybe that's what you have? Finally when it felt like it was coming back I used a heating pad and voltaren gel on it. There is no lump now or swelling but that armpit area still feels really weird .

Did your lump hurt at all? And did it feel rubbery like?
Mine is sensitive but doesn’t really hurt. The area almost feels numb. I can literally see it raised up. I am going to call my surgeon in the morning and go from there.

@mchler73 I agree with @frogjumper about the Serena, I had the same and had to have a drain put in for a few days to get it drained, but mine did not come back a second time.

It was in my breast, the drain didn’t hurt at all, my doc used a local and it was less painful after the drain was put in. It was pretty big, but so was the tumor that was removed, if that has any bearing.

This sounds a lot like what I have. It’s called fat necrosis. It’s a benign, harmless condition that occurs after surgery sometimes. It does cause mammograms on that side to hurt more, though.

Is there anything they can do for it? Mine is pretty big and uncomfortable.
