Long term side effects of Evenity
My Bone Specialist Prescribed and My Insurance Co. approved Evenity. Would like more information on long term side effects and results; to help me decide on Evenity vs. Tymlos or Forteo. Many thanks in advance .

Faced with the same options five months ago I chose Forteo and have enthusiasm for the drug. Tymlos would have been my second choice. It is reported to have a slightly stronger effect than Forteo, but has twice the medication. Evenity would be a hard choice because of the cardiac risk.
All of these drugs can have side effects. I haven't had any side effects from Forteo and was suspicious that I had gotten a demo pen, until my splitting nails became remarkably strong.
It isn't an easy choice. And sometimes we can't tolerate the effects of the one we choose. Best luck with your choice.
Polite,
I am having my 4th Evenity injections today and would also like to know about long term side effects. I don’t think the drug has been out long enough for anyone to experience long term effects.
I agree. Tymlos wasn't available when I went on Forteo but faced with the decision today, I would still choose Forteo for the reasons you stated. I had no side effects and a reasonable increase in density in my spine.
I was just prescribed Tymlos. I believe this is because that’s what my insurance covers. I am not sure this is a good reason to choose a treatment.
Has anyone taken Tymlos several years ago? Do you have to follow with other treatments after 2 years?
Thank you for anything you can share in this drug. Forteo seems to be used more commonly.
Thank you for sharing this. In regard to the Evenity, did you have a history of heart issues?
Thank you for sharing that Susan. Blessings for Good Results.
Despite no indication ofsusceptability, I'm more afraid of stroke than fracture.
"In the ARCH trial, the absolute risk of having a major cardiovascular event in the first year of treatment was 1.1% in the alendronate arm and 2.0% in the romosozumab group, whereas new clinical fractures occurred in 5.4% of the patients treated with alendronate and 3.9% of those treated with romosozumab."

2.0% is very low risk.
Wishing you the best
It is a very hard and difficult decision to start on Evenity. I encourage you to read the blog " My Experience on Evenity for treating Osteoporosis" on the Mayo Connect site. I had to stop taking Evenity after the 5th dose due to palpitations and other side effects that were getting worse. I truly had high hope that I would be able to complete the 12 months on Evenity but I got too scared. I still don't feel " right" but am hopeful after seeing 2 different Endocrinologists explained to me that it could take several months for the medications to be out of my system.
There is a lot of support on this site and I encourage you to gain as much knowledge as possible before starting any medication treatment option.
I did take Tymlos a few years ago and tolerated it well.
Thank you so much Susan. I delayed my start for Evenity until I could learn more, I've really been reading a lot about and this site is most helpful. I do appreciate your response. Blessings with your treatments.
