Hello...I had girdlestone resection about 18 months ago and told I would never be able to have another hip due to chronic Osteomyelitis in my femur and pelvis now and on lifelong antibiotics. I am walking with a walker and crutches for short distances. I was very active before this happened to me and I continue to do my exercises daily. I like to talk with anyone in my situation to see if there's anything else I could do to help myself or offer help to get the best possible outcome. I'm 70 and live in Michigan.......Cindy

i am kathy and from michigan originally i live in new mexico now. i am 76. i didn't expect this to come on so fast. i use a walker and am just having seen the orthopedic dr. aside from the walker in my house i can drive and get the walker out to go into my drs. appointments. my bone dr he liked to call himself suggested cortisone shots as a conservative way to treat my osteoarthritis. i can't have the surgery because my a1c is at 10. i ave to be under 7. i am interested in the platelette injections which he performs at the taos osteopathic institute. he's the boss though so i am having my primary care dr help by speaking with him. why waste time on steriods if the platelette injections regenerate bone and cartilage? i take dulocitin 20 mg daily and gabapentin capsules at 100 mg daily and aspirin and i sleep a lot.
