Rising PSA number from 5.7 at Biopsy to 6.7 in 4 months with Gleason 6

Age 70. 2 Biopsies in the past 1 1/2 years. Gleason score of 6. Pirads SCORE of 2. Oncotype DX score of 17. Been advised to pursue Active Surveillance. No symptoms. but am concerned the PSA has increased 1.0 in only 4 months. Have read an increase in .5 in one year is alarming. Also have read that many Urologists don't get too worried until PSA jumps over 10. Am experiencing some anxiety. Any advice?

Listen to web265 and calm down. I am 74 and just did the 5 radiation treatments before the British study that just came out that determined if you did nothing, had a proctectomy, or did radiation your chance of dying of prostate cancer at 15 years was the same in all groups. That makes you 85. You have a way better chance of dying from something else. I was a PSA 2.9 with a 7mm lesion, with a Pirads 4 and my biopsy showed 3-4 and 4-3 making me unfavorable intermediate risk. PSA had been in the 2's for 5 years at 74 it is well below 4. Relax and just keep an eye on it and enjoy life.

Causes of rising PSA from 5.7 in Dec 2022 to 6.7 in April 2023 to 7.7 in August 2023? 70 year old white male Diagnosed with Gleason Score 3+3 in Dec 2021. Oncotype DX test result was 17 ( used to determine risk of aggressive cancer. A score below 25 is good as I was told). Sought a second opinion from a National Cancer Designated University Hospital. Their pathologist agreed on Gleason 3+3. Decipher Test results were .12 on a scale of .01 to 1.0 which is very low for aggressiveness and risk of metastasis. Currently on AS, but am very concerned with the velocity and upward movement of the PSA. Have had 2 prostate biopsies with concurrent Gleason scores of 3+3. Radiation Oncologist at University Hospital recommended AS for now. Urologist suggests MRI analysis. Appreciate ideas and suggestions.

Kugrad1975: I had Gleason 3+4 and 10.2 psa. I was 69 when I had MRIdian linac radiation. I am 70 now. One radiation oncologist suggested monitoring while the other 4 suggested radiation or prostate removal. My concern was that there was no data on how quickly “it” could grow and force me into possibly life long therapies, i.e. hormone treatments and radiation that might affect quality of life forever or for a long period of time. My brother waited too long to find out that he required both and he is desperately trying to get off the Orgovyx because of the side effects. Everybody reacts differently to medication, of course, but I was not willing to take the chance of wait and see, even though my Decipher test showed a lower end risk. We all have had “I wish I had”…moments in our life. I chose to attack it as soon as possible.
