Pain post Octreotide injections

Posted by aseb08 @aseb08, Aug 27, 2023

Hi,

My mom has recently been diagnosed with NET Grade 1 and the doctor has suggested her Octreotide 30mg. She has taken a couple of injections now but after every dose, she experience huge pain (the doctor advised her to take the injection in the hip) so much that the pain spreads to her entire leg and stays for 10-15 days. Has anyone else facing the same issue? As per the oncologist, pain for some days for the initial some doses are normal.

I’ve been on octreotide injections for 5 months now I receive 2 shots monthly. The first time sore at the injection sites ( one on each hip ) the second time I was sore for about 2 weeks, The 3rd time sore for about 1 day.. I now request the same nurse every time and I only experience soreness at the injection site for about a day.. I hope it gets better for your mom..

Thanks @vinnie694 for responding, actually in her case the pain subsidies from the injection side in a couple of days only but after that it spreads to the leg and stays there for a couple of weeks. Hope that as was in your case, her pain also reduce from the subsequent dose onwards!

Interesting response -
Question:
Where are your injections being done such that you can request the same nurse?

Thanks,
