Yes, I know that sometimes there is little choice. I have osteoporosis as did some of my relatives. But I will always wonder about the 'hereditary' aspects as my mother and my aunt who had it had TERRIBLE diets because they cared about their appearance and ate accordingly. I do believe that genetic tendencies are real. And all we can do in that case is be mindful and educate ourselves. The problem for me personally was that my mother was stubborn when it came to her appearance so she paid attention to what made her happy. But I will say that I grew up eating mostly fresh and frozen veggies but also in the age of the dawn of convenience foods. And back then they were unaware of the harms of chemicals used to process and preserve the commercial products. Also, all drugs were considered miracles as they helped save a lot of lives which of course is a good thing.
We can't really go back and undo all the harms that were done to our planet and stop the chemical companies from producing ever more harm to us with drugs that sometimes also do good things. We just have to each make our own decisions about what is acceptable for us each personally. My body, for whatever reason, does not like drugs, even some natural ones. This is why I use foods as medicine and eat a limited natural foods diet. Not full vegetarian, not vegan either but I choose what seems to agree with my body most of the time. and that changes with age I find. And I do my best to vary my diet as much as possible. Fortunately for me it seems to like and do well with super dark chocolate. ;o)
