Bone Coach - How do you know it works?

Posted by sheilad1 @sheilad1, Dec 13, 2022

I have seen several people here joined Bone Coach. How do you know your osteoperosis is better. The testimonials talk about general health improving which adherence to any healthy diet may have done the same.
There is no science shown. It's pricey but worth it if it works.

Where do I check to find out if the Osteoporosis Symposium will be offered next year.?

It looks like Margie Bissinger's online symposium will be Jan 15-21, 2024. It's called "More Natural Approaches to Bone Health Summit 2.0". Go to https://morebonehealth.byhealthmeans.com/?idev_id=30380 to register. It's possible it is a repeat of Mar/Apr 2023 symposium because that one was also called "Summit 2.0". I found the 2023 online summit excellent and helpful (especially the sessions by several physical therapists, e.g., Sherri Betz, Sara Meeks).

Follow The Bone Coach Kevin Ellis on YouTube and Tictok. They talk about exercises recipes and more.

I felt the same way. However you need to improve your gut health for stronger bones. Bone Coach is a functional medicine approach which is getting to the source rather than just looking at symptoms. Follow them on YouTube and Tictok to get an understanding of the program.

I am trying to avoid going on anything but having a hard time finding bone strengthening exercises which is a whole program, preferably online. As you mention, there is a lot of scam out there.
Do you know of anything that might be available online which is a good program?

It’s a very hard decision to make regarding medications for osteoporosis. I refused for many years thinking I was doing all the right things with diet, exercise, and supplements. The last 2 years my T- spine score dropped 13% to a -4.6. So I have now started Evenity. You have to very carefully weigh all you options. I also have a medical background.

Sue, it is a work in progress, but I’m moving forward daily. I switch things up, but a walk daily is non negotiable. I use a weighted vest (I’m finally up to 10lbs, and my goal is the recommended 10% of body weight..so 12lb is my goal.) I alternate days of doing free weights exercise,Fishman Yoga 12 poses and Meeks method exercises. I eat mostly plant based (I’m a vegan for 30+years, but recently stopped ALL added sugar (6 months ago). I take vitamins, but not crazy amounts and get most from food, but as I age my appetite had gotten so low that supplements are getting necessary. I definitely take B12, a good multi, K2, D3,DHA, magnesium and C. I emphasize protein, calcium and fiber in my diet. That’s it, so far. Ha!
You are lucky to have gotten the daddy gene! I got my moms crummy gene snd have been working for most of my life to not follow her path of self care, which was zero! I’m trying …
I’m envious of your current status of bone health, but please keep vigilant. Women don’t have it easy in this aging game. Whatever you do, muscle strength is vital for your future. Work on that and flexibility. You want to be able to get up if you fall! My friend told me she was unable to get on the floor and then get up… terrifying!! I watched videos on this very thing and am now able to get down and up without much grunting!! Haha!
Thanks for checking out those links. And continue to stay strong and well… Barb

What types of foods do you eat for their calcium content? Do you keep a journal to log how much calcium you intake daily? Thank you in advance for your help with these questions.

Hi
I can help answer that I think. I was a client at the Bone Coach program and it has different prices, but I chose the second most expensive which is around $2600. I balked at fist but it’s was worth it for me:

I have OP at 62 now. I Went from -0.6 spine to -3.2 in 5 years between 54 and 59 yo 😳. That was shocking. Thankful my GP insisted I check at 59 and NOT wait til 61-65. I am a RN and had done exhaustive research myself, getting very overwhelmed. Info from Docs and studies in PubMed and everywhere I looked was so conflicting and confusing, I finally threw my hands up. The program helps sort it all out. They have 5 experts “ coaches” who you do Live zoom meetings with weekly, for 3 months. There’s about 5-12 people per Zoom teachings. You can ask questions which was key for me! A Life coach for stress, A nutritionist, a NP who has worked with women’s health for years , an AMAZING (at TOP in USA for Osteoporosis) physical therapist who was worth the cost alone IMO. Very specific answers and what to do and not do using studies…Info that is NOT out there in general, and lastly a science research coach who reviews the multitude of the labs that are must haves, many that MDs don’t do unfortunately, including Dried urine test ,the Dutch test, which revealed a lot for me on my hormone pathways /cancer risk / OP risk and how to drop that risk, plus ACCURATE cortisol, oxidative stress results. And many other labs that revealed root causes. That coach also was worth the cost for me!

I must say though, it is almost like a college course, and you have to be willing to put in the effort and work and to do the weekly zoom classes! Some are offered two days/ times. A couple just one day/ time. Tapes of them are available to you for life. First part of Program gives you all the possible Root causes, because if you don’t find that, you’re not gonna be able to help stop/slow bone loss. Several of which I had not found on my own research and sadly few of which Endocrinologists explored. No one ever told me that taking antidepressants is a risk for Osteoporosis for example.
Some women found their cause. Im in touch with a few gals still. Some causes included gut issues & Not absorbing nutrients well, a couple parathyroid tumors (EASY fix for OP. Wish that had been me ) I narrowed mine down to 3-4 things . After program I realized OP is very complicated and differs for all of us. My mds / Endo’s did not ever look at it individualized unfortunately. Prevention is key to OP. You all should do right stuff now if you can before getting it !! This Bone Coach program doesn’t promise you or give you a “ fix or cure “ at all. It’s about finding what will work for you and diving into by guiding you on what you may do to help halt it and sometime slightly reverse it. But it’s not a “cure” program. It’s very supportive with the Live coaches and Extensive info Ex. specific lab tests reveal many possible root causes. But You have to have your own docs who will work with you. Some of these Lab tests are crucial & my MD’s did not do. Program gives pathway to follow and try to discover your root cause and tons of info. They help you how discuss this with your doctor. I also found other docs to help me more after being in that program. Another ex is I learned I was taking WAY too much calcium which puts us at risk for heart disease. OP Patients are at a much higher risk of heart disease already. Calcium supplements including calcium fortified foods should not really be over (approx. 500 mg/ day). The Rest should come from food which is not easy for me and I’m still confused about dairy products, but I know now fermented ones are safe.
And there’s certain kinds of calcium to take or avoid etc … I have no idea why they allow calcium supplements of several hundred to 1000 mg on the market?!!!

Last note. The owner apparently was diagnosed with osteoporosis when he was in his late 30s ish He was shocked and that’s when he dove into Osteoporosis. He was actually able to basically reverse his, but again, it depends on the cause and what we do about it. I have been told by my endo/ MDs you “cannot reverse osteoporosis”, but I know for a fact that is not true, because I now know people who have improved their bone density significantly and not because of taking strontium (which can give a bit of a false DEXA scan).
Oh also, that program does not tell you to not take OP medication or to take meds because it’s up to each individual case.
Hope this helps!

I read your note about taking what is called "Gold" level Bone Coach program. I don't know when you took it but that one with all the zoom classes is priced at 5,000.00. The "Diamond" program which gives you a full 6 months is 10,000 'discounted' (haha) to 8500.00. The 'basic self-guided' program is 1,000.00 (real price 1200.00 but they discount for paying in full). I was considering the basic self-guided course but am not sure if better use of my 1K would be something else. There are several books and programs out there. I'm only just starting to figure out what is best in terms of learning the basics and working with my dr. Just thought I'd update you on prices and anyone reading this. Any words of wisdom let me know.

Hi alexxa. Here are two books that will give you a wealth of information.

and

You can also search for recorded videos on the internet for R Keith McCormick (Great Bones book author) and Margaret Martin (Melio Guide). Dr Sherri Betz, physical therapy specializing in osteoporosis, is very good also.

I looked at Bone Coach last year and decided not to join. However, I still get email from them with short videos and recipes. I think there is publicly available videos for free from Bone Coach. They may be a year old, but still interesting info.
