For years it was painful for me to walk any distance, shopping was hard. I had custom made orthotics and went through the usual foot doctor treatments which helped BUT WHAT KEPT IT FROM COMING BACK???? The right shoe!!!!! Apart from running tennis shoes with lots of cushion I found sandals with thick bottoms and 3 adjustable straps that hold my foot in place. I wear them even in the winter with socks sometimes if I want to walk at the mall. The problem was my foot was always sliding around before. I am now ten years without foot pain.
Also I notice that the shoes being sold today are quite solid - people got smart????

Good shoes make such I big difference for plantar fasciitis! I switched to wearing OrthoFeet shoes when I struggled with PF and now only wear that brand. My daughter inherited all my old shoes and was very grateful. I’m now able to walk 4 miles each day with no problem. The initial recovery was very long though, but I haven’t had any flare ups since last year!
