Getting a wafer to stick .. using Compound of Tincture of Benzoin

I had read on one of these forums that a person use “Compound of Tincture of Benzoin” to get their wafer to stick to the skin a bit longer than I have been having success with.
Tonight I was reading and came across this “ . As per the recommendations, after opening the sterile bottle of tincture benzoin, it should be used immediately and the unused liquid can’t be used for the next procedure, because the growth of the virulent organisms in opened CTB bottle has been reported”
Does anyone else use this? And do you throw the bottle away after one use?
I stopped at Meijers Pharmacy the other day to purchase a bottle but the pharmacist didn’t even have it in their computer for purchase.

Hello, yoopergal, it may have been my post that you read about using Tincture of Benzoin. In any case, to begin with, the first times I used this method, I had single use packets given to me by an ER doctor who was the person who first used it on me. I couldn't find a source for those other than buying in great quantity so I bought little bottles. I did not see the warning you are talking about and I wonder if subsequent procedures refers to surgical procedures. As my ostomy had healed somewhat, and since I only applied the tincture to my cleaned skin around the opening and the disc and not to the wound itself, and the fact that it was recommended by the ER doctor, I was confident that it was a safe usage. Also, be sure to secure the cap after use as the tincture will dry up quickly when exposed to the air. Also, FYI, protect every surface when you use it. It will permanently stain almost anything it comes into contact with. Good luck to you!
