Dizziness from SIBO, diet advice
I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 20 months ago, had the whipple, followed by 6 months of chemo. I have been cancer free for 19 months. I am currently taking Creon with every meal. I started having IBS
Symptoms after I got Covid in January. Since then, my digestion has been really bad. I struggle with abdominal pain and bloating everyday, as well as a headache and dizziness and back pain, sometimes severe.
I believe that I have SIBO although have not done the breath test yet. I am about to start xifaxan. I have several questions. Has anyone experienced dizziness from SIBO? What diets have worked for controlling SIBO? Has exercise helped anyone recover? Has anyone lost weight? Has anyone taken probiotics? I have read that probiotics may make the situation worse, all except saccromyces boulardi.
If anyone has experience with
any of these questions, I welcome your feedback. The pain from this is often overwhelming.

What are signs of SIBO?
.
For me, the signs were immediate fullness after eating only a little,
bloating that lasted all day, burping or belching,
Abdominal pain from my ribs to pelvis that lasts all day,
Back pain, dizziness, headaches, nausea
Rapid weight loss.
Pain was worse if I ate anything with fiber. Started on xifaxan about 6
days ago, and it has helped. Will be doing herbal remedies soon.
I hope this helps you.
Which type of doctor did you go to and what test to show you had SIBO?
I see a gastroenterologist and naturopath. The test is a breath test that looks for methane or hydrogen SIBO. Right now I am taking xifaxan, an antibiotic for it. It is only somewhat effective. Next I will try Atrantil which was recommended by the naturopath, that along with low fodmap diet and other herbal treatments. You can get the Atrantil on Amazon without going to a doctor. Right now I'm trying to regain the 7 pounds I lost over the last 7 weeks. It's tough to do.
I have SIBO, the methane kind. I recommend doing the breath test as soon as you can. This will help determine which bacteria are residing in your small intestine and can help guide your treatment.
Atrantil has saved my life - when I take it regularly (which is 3 pills twice a day). But my understanding is it's most effective for the methane producing bacteria. My breath test told me which was more prevalent in my gut.
I've heard people can completely rid their small intestine with the antibiotic treatment you're on, followed by strict adherence to the SIBO diet. I am not one of the lucky ones. I attached a copy of the SIBO foods list below. Got it from my naturopath. It's different from the fodmap. It's somewhere between SCD (specific carbohydrate diet) & fodmap. I like The Low Fodmap Diet, Step by Step by Kate Scarlata.
As for probiotics, I love the SCD 24 homemade yogurt. It has all the good ones and no lactose but have to make it with yogourmet yogurt starter. You can order that on Amazon too. I eat it with fodmap granola or put it in smoothies with coconut water, spinach, banana and blueberries.
I hope this helps. Keep us posted on the breath test.
