Hi Susan, Quick background , I first received my transplant at Mayo almost 6 years ago. It always impressed me there willingness to work with outside Doctors. I did originally have the option to select either a clinic outside Mayo or Mayo itself. In the process of determining a treatment my outside doctor was working with Mayo transplant dept to set it up. So I opted for Mayo because at.the time the ability to get the treatment was hung up by insurance and both agencies were trying to get approved. Mayo ended up being more successful since their size gave them advantage to getting the medication. So I went with Mayo.
Now as for the treatment itself I was very happy with the process and enjoyed my monthly visits. The staff was great, they had nice setup with TV's and a huge range of movies to watch. The process typically was a couple of hours depending on the dose.
The one area I wish I would had checked on was the insurance part. I ran into issues with my federal Blue Cross Blue shield. And ended up paying out of pocket more than I liked. So for me if I need it in the future will make sure to verify the cost ahead of time. The treatment is real expensive. It was a few years ago when I was on it was about 8000 a session without insurance. So hopefully that helps. Ask any other questions you may have.
Blessings

@danab thanks for your message.
I’m at the beginning stages of my journey with a rare neurological disease and usually the treatments are IvIg and steroids.
I’m currently working on gathering information about the process so I can be an informed patient. That helps when you have a rare disease! Sometimes I have had to do “battle” in the past with another rare disease I have…

If I have any questions, I will ask. Thanks
Blessings to you too.
