Going by instructions on the bottle . Eat with it too. Well in the mornings when I wake up. I feel nauseated , and head ache , I thought this was suppose to be easy on your stomach. I about give up . Seems my body rejects everything .

Yes, my genes are a mixed bag...my mom lived to be 97, her dad 97, but her mom had cholesterol and heart issues. (lot of ignorance back then/unknowns with health)
I try to stay positive, pray, eat cleaner. I use an app from a guy on youtube, Bobby Parrish, who looks into so many products in most supermarkets and explains the oils and what's good or bad in them. I'm not 100% buying totally clean ingredient products but it helped me a lot making choices and seeing some protein bars (most) weren't very healthy and I feel so much better with fruit being my treat than sugar laden foods. Cut way down on gas, bloat, tiredness etc.
I got an apple watch for Xmas that reminds me to stand and move at work, I try to do 30 min of exercise 6 days a week of some kind. If I can do more I will but I needed to set a limit.
I am still looking for more positive people to be around, it is sad how as you grow older, more become sullen and depressed even without obvious reason. I do believe like you it helps a lot.
Hi again
I live in a senior community also and so many of the residents really look and act their age. I am not embarrassed to tell my age and I get looks when I do and comments that I do not look my age. Well, heck yeah! That is all because of how I think of food and also I am thankful for everything I have and all I have done and I have 3 great grown children who are pretty well balanced in life and all are happy people. They grew up with good foods and still eat well due to that I think.
I am fine with making friends online and think that we can seek out those with whom we will resonate. The internet is really an amazing tool for that. You just do not brush off anything that is said that causes a red flag to go up in your brain.
The reason I am on this site is because I am a big fan of the people at Mayo Clinic. I have been there several times myself. The care is exceptional as is everyone I interacted with during my few times there. The Mayo Brothers had a beautiful philosophy and that I believe is the main reason it is what it is.
So here's to a healthy life going forward and perhaps some new friends as well.
Stay safe and keep smiling.
My endocrinologist has me taking daily calcitriol and vitamin d 50000 once a week.
Do you take this along with a calcium supplement or other medication for osteoporosis? I am asking because this isn't really a calcium supplement, it is intended to make your body better absorb calcium.
Sue
No calcium supplements - just what I eat. Guess it is more an absorption issue for me
I take New Chapter Bone Strength calcium supplements. The calcium is plant based, sourced from algae which is naturally high in calcium. The pills also contain vitamins D, K1 and K2, which directs the calcium to your bones. The daily dose is divided into 3 pills, so they aren't huge and you can space them out during the day. They have never upset my stomach, even when taken w/o food. I purchase them on Amazon.
I also use New Chapter Bone Strength as well but only take 2 pills a day as recommended by my rheumatologist. I also take 100 mcg K2 and vitamin D 2000 iu and vitamin C (ester C) 500 mg.
Does anyone use collagen powder?
I use Marine collagen but I note Dr. McCormick sells a collagen made from bovine called Fortibone.

So many collagens out there and which one to choose can be a challenge.
There seems to be significant evidence building that collagen supplements help to strengthen bone. I haven't seen any large scale studies yet, but all the smaller ones are uniformly positive. It seems that all that remains to be shown is exactly which peptides, and the ideal dose...
Like over half of the older adults in the US, I am at risk of osteoporosis. I do not have it, but nearly every other female over 45 in my mother's extended family does. So for many years I have done everything in my power to avoid it - I eat a very healthy diet, with dairy and dark leafy greens as well as plenty of protein. I do weight-bearing activities and exercises regularly. I take calcium with Vitamin D & magnesium, and for the past year, collagen.T
After reading for over a month, I settled on a formula that has collagen types 1, 2, 3, 5 & 10 to cover all possible bases - bone, skin, hair & nails. My hair & nails are definitely stronger, my old skin (which has had a lot of sun exposure) is less fragile and prone to random scrapes and tears. So, hopefully, it is helping me on the inside as well.
This is an interesting topic, and who knows, may someday have an impact on preventing or treating osteoporosis.

I started taking Dr McCormick's collagen (OsteoNaturals brand name) several months ago. It's a great product...unflavored, tasteless and mixes in both hot and cold liquids. The price is comparable to other products out there, and I trust Dr McCormick's recommendation. Don't know if it's helping my bones yet, but it can't hurt. For me, every little bit counts!
