Diagnosis Via CT Scan

Have any of you had osteopenia or osteoporosis diagnosed via CT scan? I had a soft tissue scan of my throat for another reason and the radiologist threw in a couple of bonus findings. One was osteopenia of my cervical spine. The other was a possible unruptured brain aneurysm. (Waiting to get the CT angiogram to confirm the latter finding.) I had not heard of CT scans used to diagnose osteoporosis

Yes, 75 with osteoporosis. Never broken a bone, well, the small finger long ago. RN got very annoyed with me when I "refused treatment" of a med. I told her I would prefer to use diet, exercise, and vitamin supplements (vitamin D which they suggested) to strengthen myself. I hold fast to the belief that I decide what works best for me, and yes, thank you very much for all the suggestions which usually involved too many meds. At times, I have learned the hard way with poor med advice and payed a heavy price.

I wonder if an IV might be easier on you. It was 75 ml injected into me while oral seems to require cupfuls be consumed due to low absorptivity through the intestines.

@normahorn I cannot have IV contrast due to kidneys and I imagine I would have a hypersensitivity reaction to it that would be truly harmfulnormahorn I cannot have IV contrast due to kidneys and I imagine I would have a hypersensitivity reaction to it that would be truly harmful.

This is way off topic and probably completely irrelevant but here goes. The twin of a person I know was at the point where dialysis was being seriously considered. She saw a new doctor who took her off two medications. One was a statin. Her kidneys improved to the point that dialysis was no longer needed.
