Where can I find a cancer clinical trial?
I looked at CT.GOV and spoke to a woman who told me that it was up to my oncologist to find me a clinical trial. Well, when I asked oncology I was told they don’t have the time to continuously search for clinical trials for their patients. I live nearby to Johns Hopkins in Maryland and they do run clinical trials there.
Clinical trials are very specific. And there is no way I can search myself as the information needed is way over my head when it comes to understanding the specifics!! And the clinical trial has to match my situation exactly.
I am willing to travel in a 250 mile radius of where I live and that would cover most of Pa , Ma , DC areas !! ( But how do I find one ????? )

For the last 2 years I have been in the Janesen clinical trial proteus PCR 3011.. you can goggle this to see the long list of exclusionary conditions and I suppose that this is the situation to exclude men who have medical conditions ( other than a level of PC) that would effect the statical result. Hence, it is much easier to be excluded than included and it is not always good to participate as a large percentage of the men are given a pracebo and not the experimental drug treatment.
So Apalutimide is good Why a clinical trial They could give you the Placido
On Xtanda and Xgeva working well Zolodex injection 3 mos
78 feel great 2017 had 40 rads but in 202 had to rad L 1 lumbar
As with any/all clinical trials yes you could be given a placebo. But , if they see your condition is declining they will give you the experimental medication. And if that fails they they will see that you are treated depending on what your condition may be at the time !!
I was told there are other medications to try after what I’m taking at the moment ( Lupron injections, Abiraterone ( Zytiga ) and prednisone ✌️ But that’s only after the watch and see game and where the cancer spreads to !!! That’s when other medications will be tried !! There are no other medications that ( I was told of ) that will work like Lupron injections and Zytiga after you are done taking them. Which is keeping my cancer in remission and testosterone down to a minimum and my PSA down to undetectable. This is why they need to come up with more medications that will work like Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone !! There isn’t any !!! If they did , I and everyone in my position could live longer !! So that’s why Clinical Trials are important and that’s why I want to get into one ✌️Regardless of the outcome of the trial , I have nothing to lose either way !!!
My surgeon wanted me to get ADT for 6 months before surgery and if I got the Erleada in the trial that would have been a further benefit. The ADT softened the cancer up and made its complete removal more likely and for my aggressive cancer getting Erleada early was beneficial , so the pracibo would have been ok and the Erleada would be better. This type of treatment was not standard and would not have been covered by Medicare but it was available through the trial. The conclusion of the trial was that the men who got the Erleada had event free survival for about 17 months longer than the pracibo group. We determined that I was in the Erleada group due to the rise in blood pressure side effect.

Best of luck.
@fuzzy123, you can also call Mayo Clinic to talk with someone about available clinical trials.
The availability and eligibility of cancer clinical trials can be a challenge to figure out. Mayo Clinic offers a service to help you find clinical trials that may be possible for you, your cancer and eligibility. Echo your sentiment that finding the right clinical trial can be challenging as I have been in the same boat. There’re many studies registered on ClinicalTrials, but sifting through them to find those that fit my condition was a pain in the neck. Reached out to a few studies only to find out that I was not eligible for various reasons. My healthcare team was very helpful and answered many questions I brought up, but both the available trials and my eligibility changed over time. I’ve tried a few websites that use algorithms to match you with clinical trials. The info they ask may vary, and matching may not always work. From my own experience, ResearchMatch has a pretty large database. They send you invites so you don’t need to apply. InfoReach lets you filter based on your health profile while CenterWatch filters using medical keywords. Worth trying if you’re considering clinical trials.
My surgeon at UCLA in conjunction with the doctors treating me recommended that I enroll in a trial because , I had a high risk cancer and was otherwise a good candidate due to other health issues. I accepted the enrollment. Hence, I suspect that your medical team should be watching for an appropriate trial for you if you are a good fit for one. A clinical trial is not always great as 50% of the enrollees get a placebo and the other 50% get an experimental treatment. Nevertheless, I think that I got the experimental treatment, not the placebo, and the results in the last 2 years have been good for me. Good luck to all.
