What does everyone take for calcium or other supplements?

I take Citrical plus D slow release 1,200
Going by instructions on the bottle . Eat with it too. Well in the mornings when I wake up. I feel nauseated , and head ache , I thought this was suppose to be easy on your stomach. I about give up . Seems my body rejects everything .

I think the reason I got osteoporosis is I didn’t find AlgaeCal til after DX - when I told self I better find some kind of calcium I could tolerate after testing about 15 a decade earlier, starting with those caramels, and finding every one upset my stomach. ( A polite way of saying I pretty much didn’t go to bathroom after a day or two.);2 things I’ve learned just recently: the magnesium that can counteract the calcium’s affect on stomach is magnesium oxide, not glycinate which I had been taking. Also an Algaecal person told me some people can’t digest the magnesium so it can’t help, they lack some kind of vitam8n B 12 and if you take that, the magnesium can do its job. You get something called P5P. I have to look for this.

I’ve thought about taking AlgaeCal, but I read somewhere that Vit K should not be taken by people with clotting disorders. I have Factor 5 Leiden. Anyone know of another supplement similar to AlgaeCal without Vit K?

I have always had a tough time taking calcium. It always upsets my stomach. I know take calcium Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite after a meal it has 500mg of calcium and 220 mg of phosphorus made by Douglas Laboratories and then after dinner I take 2 gummies of Nevis Algae calcium that has 600 mg along with other vitamins. It has worked well for me. I also have calcium in my multi vitamin along with the food that I eat.

I take thera cal, up to 1200mg depending on what I eat that day. No tummy upset so far. I take it mid morning with almonds or a snack and later in the day. Break it up. It's 2 tablets for 500mg so I can take them separately too.

I think a lot of the brands seem to have the Vitamin K too. While I was waiting for my Algaecal refill I bought some Garden of Life. It's not as easy on the stomach and does have Vitamin K. But Garden of Life may have a few different kinds within its brand. This one is called Vitamin Code Raw Calcium, it has the K.

I just did a google search, Coral Calcium without Vitamin and it did seem to have a lot of results.

Good luck

I never knew there was such a thing as transdermal calcium til listening to a podcast I found thru someone else here. Just googled it out of curiosity when seeing your post. For now Algaecal works for me but if it didn't I would think about this. Wish I had known these things existed 20 years ago. (Maybe they DIDN'T exist 20 years ago)

Looking up Citracal and damage to the kidneys does not sound to good to me. Perhaps I am not understanding it properly. Barb

I have my calcium level checked every 6 months while taking evenity and now Prolia. It is in the normal range so my Ortho Dr says to take 600 mg per day and continue to get the rest from food sources. I eat my leafy greens. I use Fairlife milk which is lactose free in cereal etc. It has 13 g and of protein which is good for me since I mostly follow a vegetarian diet and 325 mg of calcium. This is tricky to know what is right for each person since everyone metabolizes calcium different whether in pill form or in food sources. 600 mg seems right for me.

Can you link the article you are reading that specifically states Citracal?
