Has anyone stopped Evinity before a yr ?

I guess my case is different . I’m 64 and I have very poor bone density. I talked to my Endocronologist today. He is taking me off of Evinity . With my bones . He does not recommend Reclast . He said he will only have me on it for up to 2 yrs . Where some people are on it for 5 . He said Prolia . I will need . I talked to him about what I have read on here and about Keith Mc Cormick . My case is different . I was on Forteo for a yr . 2017 to 2018 Than nothing . So everything I gained from Forteo I went back wards . Not good at all . Very frustrating

@dreamjean1958 I forget: can you go on Forteo again (the 2 year time limit was lifted) or Tymlos?

No He said . Nothing will work as good as Prolia for me . He explained it all but it was complicated . He did say if I was in my 80 s
. Than he wouldn’t put me omit . He did say it’s a comittment and I have to show up for all my appts. Some people don’t and miss doses and go out of State . That’s not good . He said in my particular case . Prolia will be the only one he would recommend . I have one of the worst cases he has seen . Due to Dr not following up after Forteo . My bone scan was worse than it was before I got put on Forteo .

I wish I could go Holistic or something . He was very familiar with Dr Keith . Respected everything he writes and recommends . I’m only going to be on it for 2 yrs . Than weaning me off . He said up too. He will order Dec Scan I don’t like it . None of it . He is a 5 star endocronologist
. I guess I have to trust him . My situation is totally different. Do I like it No . I’m scared .

I took Reclast about 6 weeks after dose number 9. I had taken it before Evenity with only some slight flu like symptoms for several days. Unfortunately, the joint pain in my hands has persisted. Keeping active helps so I'm doing OK.
I'm looking forward to February for my DEXA to see how I did.

My docs say they’re putting me on a bifosphonate after Evenity.
I’ve had 3 Evenity injections so far. A day or two after the injections, I have felt really tired and cruddy. It lasts about a day. I’m starting - after 3 injections- to see a pattern. I can deal with that if that’s all I experience.
The oral meds worry me because I have GERD.
I am 71. Work full time from home. Had a total hip replacement five weeks ago.
When I asked the surgeon about my mushy bones, he said they were no mushier that the average 71 year old. After the surgery, he explained that it had not been necessary to shore up hip with wires, cables, screws, etc. 😳. That was a relief as that hip is the site of some of my osteoporosis.

My Dr just took me off Evinity . I was on for 6 months . Side affects kept getting worse Started at 4 th I believe . The 6 th were pretty bad . Joint stiffness . My neck was so stiff that I had a horrible headache for days . Felt cruddy . He said I get the most benefits from Evinity the 1 st 6 months . Now wants me on Evinity. . I’m scared . Have read on here it’s bad . Had an hr discussion with him and he saids it’s the best for me . I read bad for your immune system. I have a really good immune system So now what? I couldn’t sleep last night . This just scares me . It all does . I have a very poor bone density . Went on Forteo and no one ever told me I needed a drug after So for 4 yrs my bones rapidly deteriorated . Mine are like liquid butter . It’s so sad . I’m not sure what to do I’m scared . This all stinks

@dreamjean1958 did your doc say why you cannot do Forteo again or Tymlos? You have to go on Reclast after Prolia, and the timing is tricky. Too early and Reclast doesn't work and too late and you have already lost bone.

Perhaps Forteo and Tymlos won't be effective after the Evenity you have done?????

I have lupus and had cancer and my doc agreed Prolia can affect immune system.

You are in a tough spot. I would make an appointment with Keith McCormick and/or another doctor to discuss Forteo or Tymlos after 6 months on Evenity. It is very possible that Prolia IS the best option. But I would want to make sure.

I had heard you could do Evenity after Tymlos or Forteo but not the other way around, possibly because there was little bone growth left to do after Evenity. But I have not seen anything anywhere- including McCormick's book Great Bones- so let us know if it is, indeed, possible to do Forteo or Tymlos after 6 months on Evenity. This is a key question for many and for you!

If your DEXA was done well after finishing Forteo, you have no way of knowing what Forteo did for you, since bone density drops off when you start. Do you think Forteo helped you?

That’s correct . I can’t do Forteo again . I did Forteo . Nothing for 4 yr . Evinity for 6 months . Now Prolia for up to 2 yrs . Than Reclast . Im at borrowed time here . My Evinity injection was suppose to be on Aug 8 th . Now I am switching g to Prolia . I doubt I can talk to any Dr that soon . I just know Im frustrated . That is not good for me either . Stress is not good

Yrs I had bone density Dexa scan. It increased . But Endocronologist said I’ve gained pretty much what I can . Now the next step is Prolia . He did not mention Forteo at all . He knew I was on Forteo in the past . But no one ever put me on Tymlos or anything else . Frustrating . That’s why my bones are like. Liquid butter . But my family practice was .and is . He should have known .
