SIBO comes back because the drugs are treating the symptoms and not the CAUSE. This happened to me as well. The gut lining has become thin and allows toxins into our bodies. When you use antibiotics to kill the bad bacteria, the good bacteria also is affected.
Find a doctor who will listen to you and understands this.
It took 3 endoscopies and seeing 3 different doctors before I found one who understands SIBO and how to treat.

I tested positive for SIBO ("Your result is off the chart!"), shelled out $2,000 for the Xifaxin and it didn't do a thing. So discouraging. And absolutely no dietary attempt works; what seems to cause my flatulence is swallowing *anything.* (Yes, I had both many endoscopies and colonoscopies always with normal results; except I was told my intestinal tract is two feet longer than normal.) I've given up any hope of a social life other than not eating for 24 hours before any social activity.

What did they do to treat it that worked? I took Xifaxin and also did low fodmap. It came back almost immediately. I have many risk factors I can't change (torturous colon, gastric bypass, and Ehlers Danlos). I'm willing to travel to the right doc's and the right treatment.
