"SIBO comes back because the drugs are treating the symptoms and not the CAUSE." So true. I tested positive for SIBO ("Your result is off the chart!"), shelled out $2,000 for the Xifaxin and it didn't do a thing. So discouraging. And absolutely no dietary attempt works; what seems to cause my flatulence is swallowing *anything.* (Yes, I had both many endoscopies and colonoscopies always with normal results; except I was told my intestinal tract is two feet longer than normal.) I've given up any hope of a social life other than not eating for 24 hours before any social activity.
What did they do to treat it that worked? I took Xifaxin and also did low fodmap. It came back almost immediately. I have many risk factors I can't change (torturous colon, gastric bypass, and Ehlers Danlos). I'm willing to travel to the right doc's and the right treatment.
