i also would be leery of adding medicine. I have had chronic pain for 28 years so lots of medicine. I really don't like to add medicine neither. I will say I think the gabapentin has helped me but a lot of people do not think it has been beneficial to them. Best wishes to you.

Gabapentin....argh, yes it helped with the discomfort, but at a cost to my cognition. I finally decided that the pain relief wasn't worth the mental confusion. I'm just coming off of a test of Lyrica...it too helped with the pain, but....it caused me to gain 5 lbs within about a three week period. What was so weird about the weight gain was that my activity level and eating volume and content was unchanged, yet somehow my body put on the weight. Another case of me deciding that the relief wasn't worth the cost.
