I had it so bad, I hardly could walk anymore. I used a pelvic belt for a while, but that did not give lasting relief. I finally went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and after lots of testing it was decided that I need spinal surgery. I had this surgery over 10 years ago, and have not had any sciatic nerve pain since.
All this previous run around with pain pills and what ever, did not fix my pain, but caused slight kidney damage. I wish I would have had the surgery earlier, it would have spared me many years of agonizing pain.
It was called spinal decompression surgery, and it sure did wonders!
Do you remember exactly what they did? I just searched for "spinal decompression surgery" and it appears that there are different types (for example, corpectomy, discectomy, foraminotomy, laminectomy, laminoplasty, laminotomy, osteophyte removal, and spinal fusion).

Same problem with leefuller1. My sympathies. It is hard to sit without pain. Have tried physical therapy several times, the most recent one with laser treatments. Had also tried epidural injections, and an unsuccessful laminectomy. None of these helped, and the pain is gradually getting worse. I basically take Tylenol which takes the edge off the pain, but not completely. The pain has gone on for over 10 years. It really affects the quality of my life.
Look up yoga poses for sciatic pain. These plus epidural injections helped tremendously. I still get sciatic pain but it's not 24/7. More like a few times a week and it's when I'm sitting on a hard surface.

It’s pain that starts in your one side buttocks and run down your leg it’s very painful, I have it off and on the one thing that helps me is flat ice pack and lay down with it on my butt and stretching that part of your pain plus an inflammatory pills

The main nerve that runs from back and down leg gets pinched by the discs in the back or the muscles in the groin. In the groin, it's the piriformis muscles. Google that and there's lots of info on it.
I suffered with acute piriformis pain last year. It would come on suddenly after about 5 minutes of walking. After 4months I recieved a cortisone injection into the sciatic nerve in buttocks. Six days later the pain was gone. I do regular hip stretches to strenthen muscles around hip joints and found if I make sure to turn that foot outward when walking the piriformis is more relaxed.

It triggered my full-blown PN. I recovered from the sciatica via PT. Unfortunately my PN stayed until now!
