I got Phonak Hearing aides...

My phonak has a t.v. adapter and also for my cell phone. I have not programmed either of those as of yet. I'm ok on my phone, just dont start spelling names, and addresses and as for the T.V I'll always need closed caption, either way. .. so im just dealing with the basics for now, and I mainly need in person clarity of speech. I can hear, but can't always understand. Although, so far I'm doing alot better. I noticed I'm understanding sales people in the stores, instead of constantly saying, "I'm sorry"??. Not really understanding words to music in my car, or Boze stereo at home. Its basically louder, but not clearer. Maybe a touch so. Ya know, can't read lips from the stereo. I hope my next adjustment will bring me closer to meet my expectations. I'm told, it'll never be perfect and cochlear implants have been recommended...which I'm not doing. So my hearing, dr, feels these Phonak aides should be most helpful for my needs. I don't need VOLUME, and in fact, loud annoys me. I started in elementary school having trouble. I was told, I don't pay attention...thx!! I suffered severe ear infections with bursted ear drums. Sure missed out on alot, and quit several jobs. I don't suffer from ear infections anymore, but I continue to have eustation tube disfunction, nerve damage, and often fullness, or pressure. On a funny note, I HATE EATING WITH THEM CRUNCH, CRUNCH, LOL. Next appt Aug.17th. Will keep in touch, and appreciate the helpful replies here.

Curious to know if you've tried the Phonak device called the Roger Pen? It's a streaming device that was created specifically by Phonak, for Phonak hearing aids. However, it can be used by other hearing aids with an add on device. I tried it when it was first introduced. I did not have Phonak aids, so had to use the streamer that worked with it. I was impressed by that system. I understand it has been improved since that trial. It's about clarity, not volume.

I can honestly say that getting a cochlear implant was positively life changing. Why do you say you will not get cochlea implants?
