Since RFA is still not very common in the US, we the patients have to specifically ask the doctors about it. A surgeon who is also trained in RFA will be able to tell you if one or the other is a better option. Most surgeons (especially those not trained in RFA) will only offer surgery and will not bring up RFA unless the patient asks about it.

@amm97 - RFA is a fairly new procedure and there aren’t as many surgeons who do it, Your surgeon might not recommend it because they do not do it. It might be worth asking your surgeon about it….it would just be a second opinion; and it would be a less invasive procedure. A procedure that might prevent you from having to have an organ removed sounds like a very good option! If you surgeon does not know anyone who does it, just do a google search. Good Luck!
