Endless withdrawal from benzos and pregabalin
Hi,
I’m at my wit’s end. I have been withdrawing for so so long that euthanasia is looking good to me. Since last November I have withdrawn from clonazepam and closely followed by pregabalin. Actually still struggling with the later drug. I am not sleeping, full of anxiety, fear and wanting to off myself. It feels like every week I reduce the drug, I lose hope that things will get better. I don’t have anyone in the medical system that understands withdrawal from these drugs.
It would be good to connect with people that have gone through this process and have improved their lives.
Also, I’m not sure if there is a discussion already in place for this topic.

Your kind, thank you!
Similar thing happened to me. It seems that you should not take the Klonopin if they give you an opiate. They didn’t know I was on Klonopin Or Seroquel so stopped-
cold turkey
I shouldn’t of said anything then I could’ve gone through withdrawals at hospital now out of the hospital
I’m back on both of them and if I don’t get off of them, I will not have any brains or memory
Klonopin helps me to go unconscious at night and then I take it in the morning and I get another four hours of rest without any pain
75 mg of Clonazepam? I am pretty sure that’s not so much illegal as is unethical and no question would red flag the dr. Through the PMP snd pharmacist if it’s a good one. 2 mg four times a day is what I take and he’s being forced by the pharmacy and other entities to bring me down to 1 mg. And he’s doing it way too fast over three weeks but what can I do. 75 mg though are you sure I was kind of confused on the message. was it .75 or 75? 75 mg Klonopin would wipe out most of my town I live in, and all the cows
I started taking pregabalin about 2 years ago, I was taking 1200mg caps to get high, eventually my tolarence went up and I ended up on 20x300mg a day tow loads of ten through the day. I went to Paris with my girlfriend and I was experiencing withdrawals I didn't even know I was dependant on lyrica, I've tapered down to 6x300 caps a day and yesterday was my last dose, I'm planning on going cold turkey, I've tried it once before and found the xanax helps with withdrawals incredibly. But only take it when withdrawals are at there worse, 3rd or 4th day
Good luck everybody
I recommend getting a genetic test aka methylation test done. You will find out what your body needs to supplement and what vitamins to take. Your anxiety is only do to your body having a deficit from not being able to absorb or do the process of methylation. Look up Gary Brecka on YouTube or tiktok for more information. Good luck!
I am doing 10% down from Gabapentin every 4 days in liquid form as of today from 200 mgs. I've been out of my mind. Insomnia and anxiety have been through the roof for over a month now. I tried to taper down off 300 mgs and got to zero for 2 days and then I caved and the doctor put me back on the Gabapentin but I stopped at 200 mgs rather than 300 mgs and the anxiety and insomnia never left me. I am so sick from this withdrawal. I am not familiar with bio-identical progesterone as I am post-hysterectomy 62 y/o female. It sounds like a male medication. I have to stop the Gabapentin because it's depressing my breathing and I am supposed to have shoulder surgery which was pushed from 2/8 to 2/22. I can't even take anything for pain other than tylenol. I have a serious gastro issue effecting my esophagus and having issue with the medication for that as well. I believe the Gabapentin was responsible for that as well. Sadly the doctors think I'm nuts and they have me with a counselor who will see me for 10 visits but I only go because I need someone to talk to about all this and she is not referring my for psychiatry in fear they will put me on yet another med that might be as bad as Gabapentin. I am a wreck from all this. I am sensitive from being on this crap poison for 27 months. I started with only 300 mgs in Nov 2021 for Restless Leg Syndrome and was raised to 400 mgs due to sciatica. I had spine surgery in Oct 2023 to ease the sciatica and it helped. After about a month, I started having breathing issues and was misdiagnosed with sleep apnea and rediagnosed with anxiety and insomnia most likely from dropping down 100 mg in November. I never knew that I was having drug interaction issues from the meds and anesthesia I had during and after surgery. I've had anesthesia after for an endoscopy and still didn't know that I had depressed breathing due to the medicine. I tried to taper off completely based on a two 1/2 week schedule from my neuro doctor from 300 to 200 then to 100 then 0 mgs. Afterwards two doctors concluded it's my best interest to go back on this crap and slower taper in smaller increments in liquid form. So that's what I'm dealing with today. I can't do the titration method by busting open the capsules as they are time released and I'd have to count the Itty bitty pellets so I got the neuro doctor to prescribe Gabapentin 250 mg/5 ml in liquid form and it'll take me a while to taper but I waited this long and my life is worth it. These doctors have no clue when they order meds, what the future may bring.
Prescribing and over prescribing benzos should be considered medical malpractice. The recommendation for use these days is weeks - not months or years. Like many of you, I had no idea it was highly addictive and MDs didn't hesitate prescribing it to me. I used it off and on for about 20 years and learned about the very considerable downsides in 2018. I found a NP who was willing to support me through my withdrawal, including prescribing lower doses as needed (and it was not needed). I also joined an online group called "benzo buddies) which also helped me. You CAN get off of it and it's not pleasant. I loved everything about clonazapam and would still use it if it was safe, but it's not. Best wishes.
I have grown cynical about this. I think MDs do know about withdrawal and just don't care. I have often wondered if prescribing has some benefit to them, but again, I've become cynical.
I understand your cynicism, I have a huge amount of anger toward the medical community for what has been done to me. I think in my case, which is not unusual, there was an ongoing turnover in physicians, each one inheriting a patient on long term benzo. They likely knew the score, but didn't bother telling me or questioning the script, just kept renewing b/c they didn't want the enormous work of dealing with a frantic, sick, withdrawing benzo patient. So they just kept writing the script and passing the buck. And that's the true tragedy. Even if the original prescriber wasn't smart enough to know what she was doing, there had to have been at least one among those who came after her who knew what was happening and chose not to let me in on the secret. Lazy unethical cowards.
100%. Yours in an unfortunate but accurate description of the problem(s).
