Why such delays for breast biopsy. How long did you wait?
An Ultrasound done five weeks ago and MRI done three weeks ago shows high chance of breast cancer in lump found. My 3D February mammogram missed this lump. Ultrasound in May caught it and MRI confirmed it YET I’m STILL waiting for a BIOPSY.
I live in Venice Florida and I’ve been waiting six weeks now just to get a biopsy.
Our health care system (besides Mayo and Moffitt Cancer center in Tampa) IS COLLAPSING.
Average Americans who are not wealthy will NOT get the urgent care and surgery they need.
And we wonder why thousands of women die from breast cancer?? It’s because of the 3rd world country status health care where I too may pay with my life because I’m STILL WAITING SIX WEEKS just for a BIOPSY, NEVER MIND GETTING THIS LUMP COMPLETELY CUT OUT.
DISGRACEFUL.

Thank you. I go this Tuesday July 25 after waiting almost two months. This is so damn so disgraceful. Truly pathetic. Women need to collectively rally together, as not only doctors but women cancer patients regarding this lunacy in having women wait two months or more for a consultation and even longer for a biopsy.
It’s disgraceful and totally unacceptable in my opinion.
Things must change.
BRADs 5 (95%+ chance of malignancy) on ultrasound - 2 week wait for biopsy in June 2020, during lockdown in Southern California. Imaging and biopsy done at a RadNet facility.
Referral by my midwife as I'd just had a baby (Labor & Delivery and Emergency Services the only hospital services really going at the time.....)
I'm so upset to hear this but honestly not surprised. We are unfortunately not in the same que as Katie Couric who admittedly knows she is part of the privileged who received, mammo, ultrasound and biopsy in SAME day. Can you to to Mayo in Jacksonville? I had traditional mammo who suspected something (got lucky as it was lobular in my very dense breasts), waited 2 weeks for diagnostic mammo, another 2 weeks for biopsy that arrived in a few dates with ILC diagnosis. I then had an MRI the following week and surgery 4 weeks later. I thought that was long but with any luck you will get right in for surgery as I believe the protocol they like to see is 2 weeks only to wait for surgery. Please keep us posted! xoxo
I have a biopsy scheduled from a Radnet facility and only had to wait 1 week. Our facility only does 2 morning biopsies 3 days a week…
SW Florida healthcare going in the crapper. Not even snowbird season and the long long wait times to see a specialist or get a biopsy is INSANE.
Crossing fingers and toes for you! Is this a BC biopsy?
Yes. Ultrasound and MRI in May showed solid mass, BI-RAD B4 rating. Waited two months for this darn biopsy while other women with political power or clout get their biopsies immediately and mastectomy done within just a few weeks max of suspicious mass found on either mammogram or ultrasound, MRI.
I wish you strength and courage as you go for your biopsy today, Joanne.
Yes and TNBC. Thank you 😊
