@anjalima

Hi. It was a request on my part as part of a bone density inquiry. I’m taking an anti hormone med and want to mitigate any side effects.

I was taking 400 mgs daily but no longer take calcium supplements ( came down a bit) my density is stable ( and good) a year into med and I have no symptoms. Ending ordered a PTH scan also no evidence of a problem there. So she referred me to nephrologist . Have an appt late November … ugh… so trying other docs and waiting for earlier appt to open up.

Could elevated calcium in urine be my normal? Primary is not concrrned

@anjalima Usually, your doctors want to look at trends, not specific numbers. If you have been having regular blood tests, they may look at the kidney function scores, indicated by [but not exclusively] eGFR, creatinine, Urea Nitrogen [BUN].

I suggest you call your nephrology office and ask to be placed on the cancellation list. Let them know you are concerned, and willing to get an earlier appointment!

Those of us with chronic kidney issues have often found that our primary doctors are not too concerned with changes in kidney function simply because it is outside the scope of what they are comfortable dealing with.
