Has anyone improved bone density without meds?
I have a very problematic dental history and will continue to need additional root canals and implants. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome and want to avoid any drugs that cause rheumatic symptoms. Other issues in my health history make all of the meds risky for me. That said, I work out almost daily, lift weights, maintain a healthy diet, take all the recommended supplements, and get most of my calcium nutritionally. My endocrinologist wants me to take an infusion/injectable drug. I dread the side-effects, yet I'm afraid of fracturing, which hasn't happened over the many years I have had osteoporosis. That said, my numbers are getting worse (-3.2 spine, -3.1 hip). I need to do something more than I've been doing, and am at a loss. I need hope and solutions I can be at peace with. Thanks for any comments or suggestions!

I just saw an endocrinologist in Rochester Minn. March 2023. I wanted to take Forteo
. He said No . It can cause bone cancer if on it for an extended time. I would hope . They know what the facts are . The internet . Has a lot of fake news . 2 different specialists and my
Family
Dr refuse to order me a prescription for it. Also called Midwest Brain & Spine . Unit for Osteroporosis . . She also said . No .
Hi barbakp!
I was very disappointed when my P.T. gave the poses a thumbs-down. I had taken a look at the exercises and people’s comments about them, and they seemed like a great way to get in a simple
bone strengthening routine. (But I must confess, the bow tie thing was a bit off-putting!). However, my P.T. had direct knowledge of a class he had taught and she was underwhelmed by his grasp of certain medical principles. I am also dealing with scoliosis on top of the OP, so that may have entered into her assessment. But if it works for you, great! Thanks for commenting.
@dreamjean1958 have you had metastatic cancer? Radiation? There are certain groups who should not take Forteo or Tymlos. But again not a single human has gotten bone cancer from these meds over the course of 2 years and Forteo is being studied for 36 months. My doctor is chief of endocrinology at a top hospital and I have seen two others as well.
Noone knows what happens after two years. The studies were for two years and that is the prescribed time frame. NOONE has gotten cancer in two years. These meds are most effective the first year.
Rats got bone sarcomas on huge doses. The black box warning for humans have been lifted.
It is possible that in 3, or 4, or 10, or 20 years on these, someone might get cancer. Maybe that is what they meant. But over two years the warning is lifted- no cases at all. Here is just one announcement:

I am surprised they said no but maybe for an insurance reason? I would clarify all this with the doctor because if they are experts, there may have been some misunderstanding.
@olderdive12345 curious why your doc said not to take Vitamin D....
As I recall and this has been over a year ago it was because I had too much of it in my system according to some blood work. Thank you for asking.
@olderdiva12345 that makes sense! Thanks for answering!
Black cohosh..
I had menopause at 41 . I was given estrogen and progesterone. Ins denied it . Don’t deem it safe .
I had early menopause at 44; took nothing. Now, at 82, have osteoporosis in my spine, one disc. My doctor recommends Evenity; I am indecisive. Am looking into natural paths, will read some of the recommended books by Mayo individuals on this site. Will see my endocrinologist in late August, with a list of concerns, and then make a decision. Any suggestions are welcome.
What is Black cohosh?
