I'm needing help for my 5yr old son
My sons dr. Said he dosent have High sprungs disease or how ever u spell it not sure but my son hasnt had a big bowel movement in over a year its just leakage and hes getting a ARM test done in August.....We have been dealing with constipation problems since he's been born. We recently found out he has redundant colon and slow bowels. My dr in vanderbilt is saying there's nothing they can do for him but give him miralax and enemas and he also can't have a NG tube because he has to much narrowing in the nasal cavity. Has anyone gotten any treatments? The enemas and medicine by mouth hasn't work for my son in 3 years he's also had 3 disinpaction (scrapping out/washing out stool) I'm at a lost and wanna help my son. Thank you!
My 7 year old son has struggled with incontinence ever since I took him out of diapers and it appears that the underlying cause of (primarily) pee but also poop accidents over the years is chronic constipation. All we were ever given to do about it was take Miralax (PEG) but without proper follow-up, it only worsened his symptoms. We went out on our own and have been doing daily enemas since February of this year - although expensive, I highly recommend the Enemeez Docusol Kids brand. We have finally, after two years of going to specialists, made our way to a GI/motility doctor who is confident she can help my son become continent. Her approach is to do a barium enema, cleanout, and then x-ray again to make sure we've totally emptied the colon, and ONLY then start a daily management protocol on Miralax. Next step, if needed, would be to do at-home transanal irrigation, meaning flushing the colon from the top instead of the bottom. She has done a few podcasts that may be of interest to you. Hello, my 3 year old has been suffering from difficulty passing stools for an entire year, they've been telling me it's constipation, though I wasn't convinced as i never saw a constipated stool. Anyway finally after a year of ng tube and numerous laxatives and a near bowel obstruction they decided to investigate further and turns out she has a redundant/tortuous colon. Anyway I also would love to know if their child has ever had surgery for this as this will be our next step. Either a resection or stoma. We don't know what to do and I can't find any advice or information online anywhere
