I had a partial nephrectomy in 1985 and lost the balance of my left kidney in 2010. I also have high blood pressure but it was pretty easily regulated with losartan. Honestly, living without a kidney was never a big deal for me, just keep yourself hydrated and life should go on fairly normally.

I’ve also found this to be true.

@azu This is so encouraging. I was diagnosed with UTUC after my BP increased for no apparent reason and my kidney function started declining. Tumor on left kidney, so far no evidence of metastatis but it is really agressive. I've been started on EV-P immunotherapy /chemotherapy in preparation for what will be a robotic nephrectomy sometime this summer. My work collegague's mother, who just passed away at age 104, lived with one kindney from her 50s onward so I'm guesing it will be manageable with some good advice and care. So blessed to be in the hands of a great team at local teaching hospital. near me.
