Gut Surgery can cause you to develop food sensitivities. Gas is a sign you are not digesting your food well. Food that you digested well pre-surgery may no longer be. You might keep a food diary and monitor your symptoms. Look at food additives, magnesium oxide gives me horrible gas as do artificial sweeteners. Consider you might now be lactose intolerant so try and see what elimination of diary does for you.
Also consider that you most likely have depleted some of the beneficial probiotic bacteria that digest your food if antibiotics were given post surgery. I like Seeking Health Probiota12 and Klaire labs Ther-biotic Synbiotic.

Hope this helps!
Hi @grc10, In addition to the great information provided by @beebe, I thought you might find the following article helpful if you haven't already seen it. It lists some home remedies as well as treatments.

Hi thanks for your help, the lactose intolerance subject seems to be a common thread so I’ll have a try at cutting out dairy, any further information would be appreciated, thanks again
Are you taking any stimulant laxatives? They move food through the intestines before they can be fully digested. This can result in unpleasant gas.
No I’m not taking anything yet
Any other remedies??
If you are taking any probiotics make sure they are lactose free, some of them are cultured on some type of milk product that could bother you. It really limits the probiotics I can safely take.
Have you tried to give your gut a rest / time to heal? Consuming fully cooked meals, no raw veggies, for a couple of weeks might help. I eat gelatin at the beginning of my meals to coat my gut and help it heal and it seems to be working. I chose gelatin over collagen as Gelatin is suppose to be easier to digest than Collagen.
Chicken broth is great also, I made my broth in a crock pot. Avoid bone broth if you think that there is a chance you might have SIBO.
Some fibers can cause gas, Psyllium husk is really gassy for me. If you are taking probiotics make sure they were not cultured on milk if it turns out that dairy is an issue for you.
Check out these webpages for information on fiber. The webpage is meant for IBS suffer's but I think is helpful for all of us who are trying to heal our guts. I don't have IBS and have found the information of value. If I eat nuts in the middle of a meal I am ok, if I eat them on an empty stomach or the start of a meal I get gas pains.

Certain vegetables that are comprised of complex carbohydrates called oligosaccharides are difficult to digest because they require the enzyme alpha-d-galactosidase. The human pancreas does not produce this enzyme. Eating high fiber vegetables like corn, peas, beans, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, will cause malodorous flatulance.
The solution in eating these vegetables without gas production is to take a product containing the enzyme alpha-d-galactosidase. The OTC product Beano is the enzyme alpha-d-galactosidase. Taken with meals containing high fiber vegetables, Beano will digest these types of vegetables. For gas that has already formed which could also be contributed from lactose intolerance, taking Lactaid which is the enzyme lactase or Lactaid containing dairy products will help with gas not being produced.
For gas that has formed, products such as Phazyme and Gas-X will help eliminate bloating. These products break down gas bubbles in the intestine using simethicone. Either can be taken with Beano as there is no interactions.

If you decide to try Beano you might want to be cautious and purchase a generic form. Beano contains mannitol which gives me gas! Why it is included in Beano is beyond me. Wal-mart makes a mannitol free generic version of Beano as does Target.
