Zoom Call Support Groups for Pancreatic Cancer Patients.

Posted by kathy2000 @kathy2000, Jul 12, 2023

Hi All,
I'm looking for support groups where pancreatic cancer patients can talk amongst each other on a Zoom type format. It is really helpful to discuss the issues patients are facing with others in the same situation. More of a people-helping-people environment. There are more calls available whereby they are presentations on new advances but getting together with others can be a spirit lifting experience and you will learn from other individuals on the call. Anyone know of such groups?

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Pancreatic Cancer Support Group.

Hi @kathy2000, here's the monthly Zoom support group led by a Mayo Clinic social worker for people affected by pancreatic cancer.

- Pancreatic Cancer Support Group on Zoom https://connect.mayoclinic.org/event/pancreatic-cancer-support-group-11/

The group meets monthly, on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Arizona time. (Remember that AZ doesn't change their clocks, so you'll want to check your time zone.) The next meeting is July 25, 2023.

All welcome.

The Seena Magowitz Foundation holds two meetings per month. One is for those newly diagnosed (less than 18 months) and the other is for longer-term pancreas patients. The groups are moderated by a licensed therapist and two patient advocate survivors. More info on how to register at this link.

For those in the area of NY/NJ, NE PA and southern CT, the pancreas center of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center conducts a monthly2 hour meeting for patients to share experiences during the first hour and during the second hour a different guest speaker that can cover research advances, oncology treatments, surgery, palliative care, music, art, aroma therapy, medicinal cannabis, dental hygiene and a wide variety of topics of interest to patients.
The program is limited in size to allow for an environment making it easy for everyone to feel comfortable and participate. If anyone lives in the NY Metro area and interested, feel free to DM me and I will provide contact info.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan.org) also maintains a list of support groups by State. Info is on their searchable site under Support Groups are they can be contacted by calling 877.272.6226, M-F, 7:00am-5:00pm PT.
