Looking for recommendations for protein powder, shakes. Looking for healthy alternatives that have healthy ingredients for ppl with digestive issues or do you have a favorite?

My GI dietician suggested Casa de Sante because it's a low FODMAP certified brand. I find all protein powders taste kinda "meh," but this one didn't taste horrible--definitely chocolate is better, and it tastes fine, provided I blend it with a banana and peanut butter, and I will usually add some type of berry to bring some brightness, but you can add it to anything. It might depend on the taste you prefer, but I find banana and peanut better have strong enough flavor to mask the aftertaste that all protein powders seem to have.

If you want something ready to go; she also recommended Kate Farms. There are others out there, if you're looking for something low FODMAP. You can Google it.

It's not technically a protein shake, nor is it low FODMAP, but my GI dietician told me it's GI-friendly. It's a meal replacement, so it has a balanced amount of protein vs. carbs/sugars and fats. It's kind of expensive, but my GI doctor writes me an RX for it and my insurance covers most of it.

I take Kate Farms Standard 1.0 in chocolate flavor (I did not like vanilla). It's vegan and GI friendly. It's an enteral formula so can be used in tube feeding or taken orally.

FYI the adult Standard 1.0 formula is the exact same as their Nutrition Shake product. The difference is the Standard 1.0 is considered a medical food--doctors can write a prescription for it. Whereas the Nutrition Shake can be sold OTC (I've never seen it in-store though). The Nutrition Shake comes in Coffee flavor, while the Standard 1.0 does not. Coffee is my favorite flavor though.

Oh, I meant to say it’s not “low FODMAP certified,” if that matters to anyone about the Kate Farms. But I had contacted the company about the agave in it and the amount in a carton is within the low FODMAP guidelines…

I no longer follow the low FODMAP diet, elimination or otherwise but thought I’d mention it if anyone needed that info!

Try Levels vanilla bean. I don’t recommend chocolate with gerd etc.

There are so many brands, there isn’t one that truly has stood out in my opinion. Look for ones with organic ingredients, no sugars but sweetened with stevia is ok, no chemicals, chocolate is ok if it’s made with dark Cocoa.

I just use pea protein isolate from Azure Market or a good egg white protein powder. I prefer it plain as I use it many ways.

I find vanilla “Lady Shake” good with my gut issues , i add banana and cinnamon mostly . Has a lot of balanced good ingredients and no added sugar nor bad sweeteners .
For a little more fibre i add chia .
The coffee flavour is also okay with my taste .

I have never heard of any of the protein powders spoken of here... but I am at the point now, that is all I get down on most days. Right now I am drinking one called Amazing Grass Meal replacement.. but I always add a banana, frozen pineapple and sometimes frozen cherries with ice and soy milk... and usually throw in the miralax. but I ran out and added a couple of teaspoons of orange Meta Mucil... it taste pretty good.. In the past, my favorite shake powder was Sun Warrior's Illumin8 Vanilla Meal Replacement, but it became too expensive

Thank you for that

I really like Vega Protein Made Simple powder - it is vegan and doesn't bother my tummy at all. I don't like it with water so I mix with almond milk. Can also add fruit or whatever and it is very fine so I can even put it in overnight oats. The taste is mild compared to some powders. Whey protein powders do not make me feel good at all and you gotta check labels on alot of the powders cause they contain gums, stablizers etc which can also upset your gut.

So sorry you/we are having all these digestive issues! Always wonder how it got that way…
Anyway, this is a tasty protein powder, can buy on at Vitamin Shop or online, have not tried the vanilla as the chocolate is yummy with banana, etc. very filling. I don’t know if low fodmap, and it has low amount of gum, but organic and not ridiculously expensive. Good luck!!!
