I have Esophageal Lichen Planus which has gone into my mouth, lesions on my legs and body etc.... My mouth is raw every day and some worse than others. I've lost over 30lbs. in the past 7 months. I was prescribed Dexamethasone oral rinse also. This can only be used for 10 days in a row occasionally. I also have oral lidocaine rinse which is useless. It's a topical anesthetic which lasts about 4 minutes. I feel for you!

Hi sadea0208 and others. I've dealt with OLP for over 25 years with gum tissue sloughing off. The dentist did not know what it was. I finally had to go to a teaching hospital to get the diagnosis. Further down the road I had it on my legs, vagina, hands, arms and back. I was prescribed Dexamethasone oral rinse also but it burned my mouth to much to use even cutting it half and half with water. Finally a dermatologist prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide dental cream 0.1%. I only used it on my gums. It comes in a tiny tube but it does wonders to calm the tissue. Now I'm undergoing dental surgery and it has caused a flare so I'm using the cream again. It was interesting that I asked my dentist to prescribe it but they said they never heard of it and would not go forward with finding out more. I had to go back to the dermatologist to get a new Rx. Now I also use peroxil (reduced strength--mixed with water) a couple of times a day to help with healing from the surgery. Best of luck. Hope this helps someone.
