Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation

Posted by sue225 @sue225, Mar 9, 2019

I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Well, I would assume that the licorice available to you would be what I am talking about. The licorice available in the states is what I call fake licorice. My husband buys it for me from an online store- I will ask him for the name. It looks, feels and tastes totally different than what I can purchase in the stores here.

Thank you. I'll look for Australian black licorice. I have never heard about it.

It was totally by accident that I found this worked, at least for me. Hope you can get some results also.

Have you heard of sacral nerve stimulation? I have ibs-c, went through all the meds, Motegrity was actually the best. But I needed more help and finally got approved for this implant. It really changed my life.

There are side effects to an aspect of licorice, I have read. I didn't do a deep Google dive, but I noted that some supplements claim they exclude that element in their supplements.

If I remember correctly, I believe it might raise blood pressure or cause migraines but I’m not 100% sure

I LOVE black licorice, the real kind which isn't as easy to find. Of course this should be limited as it can causs your potassium levels to plummet. I think read that could happen by eating two or more ounces a day. Not something many would do I imagine.

what instructions were you given? I was finally told to take it with a glass of water on an empty stomach in the am. Then wait 1/2 hr to an hour and eat a breakfast that requires you to chew your food. Continue to drink plenty of water and a couple of cups of coffee.

Linzess Question - for those of you who have taken Linzess for chronic constipation - how long did it take to work? Thank you in advance for any and all feedback.
