Is ED after radiation without ADT permanent?

I was watching Dr Scholz (PCRI) speak about RT and he briefly mentioned that men who experienced ED up to 2 years after treatment, would have the condition permanently.
I’m 69, Gleason (3+4) in 3/12 samples, PSA 3.6 with a palpable nodule on the right side. Still waiting on Decipher, MRI…. I was considering PT therapy as a possible option, but thought ED would be a temporary side effect,
I’m hoping that someone would be willing to share their experience.

Read Dr John Walsh's book and make your decision as to what treatment. The first thing to consider is curing the cancer, second continence and the third is sex. No matter what your decision, keep telling yourself what your three objectives are.

My issue was I got ADT for too long. 3 1/2 years. It is expected that men that had no issues prior to treatment would be fine 12-18 months post treatment. If you had ED prior to treatment your chances of going back to baseline decrease. I have been off ADT for a year now. But I am also 70 y/o. That is not in my favor. Best for you. Radiation May be good in your case.

Can't help you on the ED front as I had it before treatment. I am a couple of months short of 74 and just finished a 5 session proton treatment at Mayo Phoenix with next to no side effects. Just had my first post radiation PSA test and it was undetectable. So, I am very pleased with my choice. i have had no desire to try out the sexual plumbing as my testosterone level is at 12 ng/dl without taking a Lupron shot. I was on TRT since 2008 and when I stop after so long the boys never come back awake so far and it has been almost six months. I am just glad I did not have to take the Lupron shot that the radiation oncologist tried to force on me. One less thing to worry about what it was doing to me. It is bad enough without it.

I just finished PT 10 days ago and erections are pretty much like before. Ejaculations are not painful but neither are they pleasurable. Bit hard to explain but somewhere in between.

ED after radiation is primarily a function of age, prior sexual health and adjunct hormone treatment. If the answer to those 3 questions are: under 65, good wood and radiation only, you are probably looking at favorable outcomes.
