Digestive issues

Posted by bumble81 @bumble81, Apr 14, 2020

I started having digestive issues last fall. By December I was told I had bilary dyskenisa and had my gallbladder removed.
That did not fix my problems.
I sometimes have traditional heartburn but mostly I have sour stomach and stomach pain mostly middle immediately below sternum and to the left. Increases after eating. I often feel like food did not make it into my stomach. Like it's stuck down there.

I will get this weird fast quiver like spasm deep inside. I can feel it with my hand I push down and so can my husband and it goes on for hours at a time. Anyone have that before? It's very strange but something inside is not working properly. I also have postprandial hypotension and intermittent difficulty swallowing.

My blood tests show slightly elevated liver enzymes but doc said they are not dangerously high. My stool is frequently bright yellow and liquid:(

Also I cannot seem to get a straight answer but do those of you with experience with ulcers did it cause excessive burping?

So I (39 yr old female) have been struggling with unresolved digestive issues for months, did lots of tests, all negative, and tried almost every OTC and prescription medication with no improvement of symptoms. My most bothersome symptoms are: abdominal pain and cramps, excessive gas, belching and irregular bowel habit (sometimes diarrhea, sometimes constipation, rarely normal BM ).
Out of despair and lack of other options, I am thinking of trying low FODMAP diet.
I need your opinion and real life experience: does it really help with digestive symptoms ? And if so, how long does it take to start feeling better?
Are there any tips to make this diet work ?
Thanks in advance .

Favorite salad that has stayed with us…carrot shreds, radish slices and cucumber pieces. Little kosher salt to taste, tiny bit of black pepper, light olive oil and tablespoon or so of approved vinegar, (red or white) again, to taste.
So easy and beautiful! Carrots pre-shredded, radish coins, and small cucumber chunks can be unpeeled. Takes minutes to make and so fresh!
Vinegar takes the bite out of radishes.
Enjoy!

Great that they let you use it free for first week to see if you like it! Wonderful way to get started reading labels. In the beginning I spent lots of time getting the hang of it.

Purchase inexpensive rice cooker, and try to find approved chicken beef etc, broth to use instead of water with rice. Easy and delicious!
If you have time, just boil any leftover chicken with bones, tied in cheesecloth, and make your own broth with herbs. Can freeze.

Also learned about other things that I’ve never tried-roast on a sheet pan, tiny potatoes with microwaveable carrots, light coating of olive oil, and yes, a sprinkling of kosher salt.

Never had kale before, but remove stems, cut leaves into 1” +/- pieces, roast with bit of olive oil, wait for it-and a pinch of kosher salt. Adds variety and taste to meals that start to get boring.

Roasted chicken of any kind with herbs is great, make gravy with rice flour…works pretty good!
Make broth or soup with any leftovers of the last ideas mixed together. Don’t forget to put the chicken In cheese cloth to keep bones out of the broth/soup.

Sounds like may have Mast Cell Activation syndrome like me. Most or all of protocols are plant based but they all made me worse. I decided to flip it 180 and went on carnivore and got well after a long 8 months of ill Ed’s after last booster COVID I’ve tried to add back some veg and carbs. No dice. I have another flare. I am and need to stay strictly carnivore because I am sick of being sick! I’m in ! Good luck!
